Tuttosport: Milan ‘regret’ Abraham – striker issues persist without Morata

Throughout the summer, AC Milan have been linked with the idea of signing a third striker and until now, there have been no concrete moves made. With the striker issue still existing, though, perhaps there is a need to make a move.

Milan have had a very poor start to their season, failing to win a competitive game so far and only collecting a point in their first two fixtures. Defensively they have been poor, in possession, they have been poor, and in several other areas, they have been poor.

The Rossoneri conceded four goals, and have only scored three times, and the questions about the striker situation have arisen once more with Alvaro Morata absent through injury.

As Tuttosport (via Milan News) reports an alternate to the Spaniard is a must now, and the game against Parma highlighted this clearly. Whilst Noah Okafor can be a solution, it depends on the circumstances. Unfortunately, the circumstances are when a game is opening up for a quicker player to break down defences.

Therefore, the paper suggests there could be a regret that Tammy Abraham has not arrived and perhaps, there should be an abandonment of the ‘we’ll be fine’ idea that currently exists within the mercato.

  1. We have FOUR options (at least):

    Jovic
    Okafor
    Leao
    Carmada

It’s up to the coach to make any one of these work.

Stop making excuses or looking for endless solutions.

Work with what you’ve got and make what you’ve got play to their potential.

    1. Camarda isn’t ready. He isn’t destroying teams in Serie C. He’ll need at least another season. Piamonti should have been signed, but Moncada likes his African boys.

      1. Yes. Pinamonti is cheap, just 2 million load, with cheap salary. We miss that want, because wise milan management didn’t want italian.

    2. Jovic never did well as a starter (except against Cagliari’s B team)
      Same for Okafor
      Camarda is 16 y/o
Leao isn’t good as a striker.

    1. That is my number 1 striker for the this mecato
Beef with ibra was the reason why Milan did not sign him,
      Zapata
Are we not seeing him ,for this past 8 years, this guy have been inform of his life
Guy out management are been sentimental on this Milan management strategy
      Chiesa 15 million
      Zaniol in Atlanta
Recardor orsolini that boy is good
I will still sign sensi for creative
Adli the only player with vision and passing and yet Milan want to sell him

      Rijinad. Fofana. Bernacer
This is best Milan starter in 4 3 3 system

      Sub for the rotation

      Musah. Adli. Luftus check

  2. It doesn’t matter how toothless Milan attack looks when you put Okafor and Jovic up top there will still be people who will say we don’t need Abraham, we have options ans start naming Okafor, jovic , Camarda, Saelemaekers, Maignan(he played a striker coming up thru the youth categories).
Milan needs Abraham. If he is back to 100% healthy after the ACL injury, he is better option today as a striker than Okafor, jovic and camarda combined.
Milan needs a target man, an anchor, someone that can hold up tge ball up top. Abraham can do all of that

    1. Brah, what good is Abraham when you concede goals on the counter duo to high line and lack of adaptation to opponents?
      More attackers won’t solve shît

      1. That’s a whole another issue. The lack of striker option behind Morata (just like behind Giroud last year) has been there way before these last 2 games.
Even if Milan fix their defensive problems, the striker position will still be a problem when Morata isn’t available and he can’t play every game.

        1. We scored over 90 goals last season.

The issue is we had no midfield and therefore no defence.

But sure let’s keep piling on strikers.

          1. Jovic and Okafor did fine when they were introduced an hour in while also keeping the main striker. They do well against already exhausted defenders with another striker, but never showed to be good starters in a lone striker system.
Jovic scored 9 goals last season, but only 5 as a starter and 4 with no other striker beside him and most of his goals were scored during the dying moments of the game and against subpar opposition. Same for Okafor, who, out of 6 goals, only scored one goal as a starter. Giroud was present on the field when many of their goals were scored.
I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but what we’ve seen so far isn’t reassuring, hence the need for an actual additional striker who can actually start and doesn’t need another striker alongside him.

          2. Well Giroud also didn’t do well as the lone strike half the time when he started.
            It is what it is.
Abraham wouldn’t change much if he comes..or anybody for that matter.
How many goals did arnautovic score for bologna as a starter and how many did he score for inter as a sub? This is what we’re dealing with.

And all this talk of lone striker is such BS. There are 3 attacking players plus the midfield. The striker is never alone
Jovic is a poacher yet pioli and even fons had him play higher up the pitch. Expecting him to do what Giroud does. That’s not logical. You put the fućker in the box and shower him balls. He gonna score one sometime

      2. agree the defence needs sorting, but the need to get a defensive coach to assist Fonseca, I think Fonseca is using his friends as backroom staff and they need someone to deal with the defensive side in series A, not liga 1. I do not doubt we have the personnel to become a cohesive compact defencive unit.

In Atrack we do not have the personal, they need to bite the bullit and get a striker, Santiago Gimeniz, available for 30m easilyJ David even cheaper, get it done, we have a number of days complete the team

    2. There is so many “if” in you comment.
Also ,there is a reason why Roma brought a new attacker and wants to get rid of him, stop talking about him as it was Drogba.

      1. Didn’t Fiorentina get rid of Jovic too, just like Real Madrid? Both of them let him go for free. Isn’t there is a reason for that too?
And me saying that Abraham is better than Jovic, Okafor ( who isn’t a striker), and Camarda ( who is 16) isn’t me talking like Abraham is Drogba.
Abraham would be a back up at Milan.
And how is Roma new striker doing so far? He has scored as many goals as Abraham this season

        1. And did i said that jovic is better? Fiorentina and real wanted to get rid of him and you get what you see now, thats just another reason to stay away from that kind of players.
And about new roma striker, first of all i didnt brought him in roma,i didnt pick him,i didnt say he is better or worse than abraham,i dont care about him, they were not satisfied with abraham ,they ,not me, so THEY brought a new one. And dont talk me about stats after 2 game weeks please. Maybe even jovic had better stats than abraham through carrier,i didn’t check but it could be

    3. We don’t play that kind of football at all to use big man to hold the ball. Thats Konte’s playing style. Even with Giroud it was almost one-touch passing by him all the time, he was rarely holding a ball.

    4. “if he is back to 100% after injury” ,, yet you were the one talking how kalulu should be sell because of the injury, you never considered if he can back to 100% ,hypocrite

      1. Kalulu is a mediocre player who was benched way before his injury.
Abraham scored 36 goals and had 12 assists in his 2 healthy season at Roma. He was bought for 40m and even today Roma would still get at least 25m for him
You are comparing apples and oranges.

  3. Milan is conceding goals and the problem is the striker? Urgh. What BS.
We can have haland up front and we will still concede 2 goals the next match..

    isn’t that painful obvious?

  4. Camarda was a shadow against Virtus Entella yesterday. stop mentioning him. He’s not ready yet and i’m sure you guys would be the first ones to verbally attack him, when you realize this. Let him develop so he can be an option next season.

    1. This!
People see Yamal ballin at 16 ans they think that every 16 year old is as good as Yamal.
Camarda is at least 2 year away from even being a backup at Milan, let alone an option now.
The kid isn’t physically ready to compete vs grown men.

  5. Why did we allow Giroud to go when we don’t have money to sign two strikers. They shoulda renewed Giroud and sign Morata. That way, Giroud can be a sub. Am beginning to think that this group of people don’t know how to manage football team

  6. Milan must know what each player is doing on the pitch, with clear and precise tasks. A striker is not necessary for Milan, but compactness. And you have Mbappe, if everyone is high from the counter, we receive goals. We received 4, and we could have received at least 7. Formation? Change it and with the same approach we have the same result. Therefore, the attack must be smarter and the defensive players must remain in front of the ball, in order to quickly recover it in case of loss. Watch the situation, you have Haaland in the penalty area, on the right side you and Pulisic and Calabria, on the left and Theo and Leao, in front of the penalty area Fofana and Benaser and RLC walking around, and behind them Pavlovic and Tomori 40 meters from the opponent’s goal. Between Pavlovic and Tomori are two Parma players who are putting pressure on them. one of these eight players loses the ball on the edge of the penalty area, which immediately goes to two of them who put pressure on our stoppers and a quick counter starts. Goal. Now we are going to attack, our players are all marked, including Haaland, and the ball cannot reach him because eight Parma players cover the field well and are waiting for another mistake to attack again. And I don’t know how this is not clear??? This is a problem since last year. Of course Theo has to run faster and try to catch the player, but it’s not a game if you have to run all the time. The opponent has to pull out a little and spread out on the field in order to leave some space. Our defensive midfielders must not be behind the ball and the first line of defense of the opposing team. This is a problem, but it can be easily solved. We must return to the game from spring 2022.

  7. In case of emergency, Put Leao as a CF, alexis/chuk in RWF, Puli LWF. 3 midfield Benny, Fofana, Tij. That’s the last option we got. If That’s not working also, so we’re doomed

  8. Problem is the defence and lack of coherent strategy for the midfielders. As soon as the team start functioning, so will the attack. And 3 scored goals in 2 games isnt that horrible. Conceding 4 goals in 2 games are.

I hope Fonseca sees these issues from the first 2 games and play 4-3-3 with Reijnders-Bennacer-Fofana against Lazio and make sure to give the central defender enough coverage in front of them with on deeper laying midfielder (a true 6), as well as having a mezzala on each side to help the full backs out as we are struggling big time there as soon as they are left 1 vs 1.

Leao-Okafor-Pulisic up front and focus on fast counters should work better vs Lazio then Parma.

  9. How the great fonseca can work the best he can do, when management don’t sign the playt he want, abraham.

Fonseca: milan became toothless because management didn’t sign striker i want, abraham.

  10. Milan’s problem now is in the game system & bad attitude of the players on the field, our strikers don’t get a good supply of the ball.
