There were some worrying moments shortly after Ruben Loftus-Cheek asked to come off during AC Milan’s 2-0 home win against Lazio, but it seems the worst case scenario has been avoided.
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the issue that Loftus-Cheek sustained against Lazio is not serious and the stoppage should only be for a few days rather than a few weeks as was initially feared.
The Englishman, who will still be forced to miss tomorrow evening’s Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund and the following Serie A match against Genoa, will return after the international break.
The MRI scan that Loftus-Cheek underwent yesterday morning highlighted a mild issue in the pubo-adductor region, so a sigh of relief was breathed.
Although he will miss the next two matches, the former Chelsea man will remain at Milanello over the break and aim to get back to 100% for the resumption of Serie A.
Loftus-Cheek’s return to the field should take place on 22 October against Juventus and that is the game which Rade Krunic should also come back for as well.
Tomorrow evening in Dortmund, Stefano Pioli will therefore have to get by with only four midfielders. The choices are almost obligatory: the player excluded should be Yacine Adli, with Tijjani Reijnders or Yunus Musah to take his spot.
