At the age of 40, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still performing on a very high level and thus remains a key player for AC Milan. Having said that, it’s obvious that the Rossoneri also must plan for the future.
The Swedish international is expected to play one more season with Milan and then retirement seems likely. His deputy, Olivier Giroud, isn’t exactly getting any younger either and a signing will soon be needed for the attack.
According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan are well aware of this and are already looking at different profiles for the position. An old target, namely Patrik Schick, is still on their radar as he’s doing great for Bayer Leverkusen.
However, he would be very expensive as the German side have slapped a price tag of around €40-50m on him. Per the newspaper, Milan see him as ‘the ideal profile’ for the post-Ibrahimovic era. Then again, it’s a tough signing.
