Tuttosport: Milan the best team in Serie A since lockdown – 30 points and 35 goals

By Oliver Fisher -

It was another night of joy for the Rossoneri on Saturday as they swept aside Cagliari 3-0 at San Siro to bring an end to a strange season.

As Sunday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) notes, the numbers since the resumption of Serie A are quite staggering.

First of all there is the fact that the team have not lost in 12 league games since lockdown, with 30 points amassed (nine wins, three draws) and 35 goals scored.

If Ibrahimovic’s penalty had gone in against Cagliari and the game had ended 4-0, Milan would have closed this period with an average of 3 goals per game (in the end it was 2.92).

Ultimately the run of form was enough for Pioli to earn at least another season and to bring the team to the Europa League qualifiers. The Milan of 2020 had a Champions League pace, but that of the first six months did not.

Next season the goal is very simple: to continue the good work and to hit the ground running
