AC Milan are still looking to sign around five players this summer but they will need to spend around €130m to bring them all in.
As reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri will have to spend big this summer to make the changes to the squad that they want, which means any outgoings will be very important.
Having already sealed a permanent deal for Alex Jimenez and also signed Alvaro Morata, Milan are still looking at around five players.
The most likely signings as things stand would be Strahinja Pavlovic from RB Salzburg, Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco, Lazar Samardzic from Udinese, Tottenham’s Emerson Royal, and Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug.
It is thought that €35m will be needed for Fofana, and then €25m each for Pavlovic, Samardzic and Emerson. Fullkrug would be acquirable for €20m.
Whilst Milan do have some spending power this summer, it will be hard to make all of those signings work without selling some players.
One potential avenue of money is the interest in Malick Thiaw from Newcastle United, and Milan value him at no less than €40m. The likes of Yacine Adli and Ismael Bennacer could also be sold, although outgoings will impact which positions Milan sign players for.

Even if we don’t how much of a reduction can we achieve? Let’s say we get Fofana at 25M (~17% discount), 22M for Pavlovic (~12% discount), 15M for Samardzic (reduced with player trade), 20M for Emerson (~20% discoun), and Fullkrug for 18M (~10% discount), it still adds up to 100M. We have a 50M budget without sales, and we have sold no one, including CDK, the income from whom won’t arrive until 2025. So how do you fit the square peg of this budget in the round hole of the projected expenses? We need to sell players, or cut back on incoming targets, such as Samardzic, Fullkrug and Emerson (or any RB), as I see them as pure luxury buys since we have enough players in those positions.
Oh and that budget is no 40M actually, after the 13M spent on Morata, and the 3M sale of Simic.

No one has ever come out and set what the budget would be. We’re all speculating. They just said “targeted buys”
But only Morata landed, the rest still on paper…fonseca need to integrated the whole team…but the puzzle still not complete yet

We need don’t a trash player like Emerson. Fullkrug and Samardzic are not a priority.
The absolute priority is a DM (that is not named Fofana although with his price rising we probably go for someone else). And since many defenders are gone, we will need Pavlovic.
I’m for selling Pobega and Thiaw.
If we’re gonna sell Bennacer we will need 2 defensive profiles in the midfield (although one of them can be a box to box rather than a pure defensive midfielder).
It’s Adli I’m mixed about. On the one hand he is slow, makes horrendous mistakes when defending and takes forever to make a pass and overall doesn’t bring a lot of qualities, but in the other hand he is our only midfielder who can play a through ball (albeit rarely), who can take a corner and who seems to care about winning.
If Thiaw is sold and Pavlovic is taken we would need another CB since Kalulu and Calabria would play RB leaving Tomori and Gabbia the remaining centerbacks.
If the management was serious on competing with Inter & Juve they would buy Pav and keep Thiaw as well.
Then they would buy Fofana for 30m + bonuses because he is worth it and fundamental. The same for Bennacer ,he should be kept as he along with Reijnders are the best midfielders and add samardzic as well.
Pobega, terraciano,Adli,Colombo and Maldini can be sold.
The only one we need of these names is Pavlo. The rest are meh. And truth be told we don’t even need pavlo. I have faith thiaw -tomori partnership could still blossom now that piolis high risk high line style is gone
They will play a high line this season…there are a mix of defensive coverages but I’d expect to see a higher line than last season implemented most often…it’s only high risk when the team plays disjointed defense and the wingers and front line don’t aggressively attack the ball and the fullbacks don’t cover the wingers.
130M for these pure mediocre players… not good bruv
Honestly out of all these I only think Fofana improves the first 11. Loved last summer’s market but this season’s targets feel like they’re from an entirely different team
Lol considering how this management works I will be surprised if we get Pavlo or 1 of 3 targets. And I don’t think we need to sell anyone, Morata came for 13 mil also his salary is just a bit higher than Giroud. De Katelare was sold for 20-25 mil, Brescianini if he is going to Napoli for 12 mil Milan will get another 6 mil. So we basically only need to spend 50-60 mil to get Foffana, Pavlo and Samardzic. If we sell Pobega and Adli even less but don’t worry we won’t get any of them.
CDK was not sold. He is stillon loan with an obligation to buy.

It is confirmed . Atalanta pay in 2025 february for CDK so thats mean that money cannot be used at summer 2024 mercato
Lazar Samardzic and Broja (I think Ibra has a very close eye on him and Füllkrug is window dressing, we will blast for him towards the last part of the mercato) would be watershed signings for the attack in my humble opinion, if brought and given time they will be milanesta legends.
Pavlovic and Fonfana physicality is the Fonseca style of play and our must for Fonseca’s ideas to work.
Emerson I am at a loss, maybe blind faith is needed.
Focus on quality not quantity as was promised.

Kalulu was great then Thiaw was great and then Gabbia was great. Give these guys time and consistency
Okafor should be second striker and hopefully first if he does well, there is more chances of him being the solution than management spending on a good young striker
Faith in our young defenders? We allowed a HUGE number of goals last season. We actually scored enough; would have been competitive with Inter without all the goals allowed. We definitely do need some help in the defense department. Of course, having proper DM will help, but not only.
Scored enough? it was the most league goals for the club in 20 years…I agree with your thought. The defending needs to be better and more cohesive from the CB to the ST. The front line must attack the ball and not leave long periods for the opposition to find a long ball. I see that as the biggest fix that could be made. I like the rest of his principles with having fb up on wingers and staying narrow with the cbs and dms.
This club will sign someone nobody you’ve ever heard of because they have the worst management in the whole of football, just cause they want to save a little bit of money, but to win stuff you have to spend money
OK, yet they look at spending sizeable money on Emerson Royal, who everyone’s heard of, and every article is filled with negative comments.
I know that’s one case but I don’t mind them signing people I haven’t heard of – frankly, they should be doing that – there’s a lot of talent in the world and Milan are often late to it, with such a big scouting department they damn well should be able to find some gems that I haven’t heard of yet!
Sacrifice? what he hell happened with a 50M war chest from the previous window, the sale of CDK which was about 23-15M and other sales we had? . Last window all the talk was how much we had because we sold cdk, and the budget allocated. It’s not 150M, but our budget should allow us to already have at least 2 or 3 targets. Heck, we were “willing” to pay 40M for a striker, otherwise wtf were we doing chasing Zirkee?
I really don’t understand why we are considering the idea of paying a lot of money for that bum Emerson Royal, instead of putting that money towards whatever Monaco wants for Fofana.

I don’t know why the club and everyone else see Bennacer as expendable. He has been the most consistent player over the years. I think he can explode even more with better players around him.
