Tuttosport: Milan ready to try for €50-60m striker – €12m man could be leverage

AC Milan are looking for the right striker to lead the line for years to come and they hold a strong interest in signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) confirms Gianluca Di Marzio’s story in which he claimed that Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada was present at Bologna-Genoa to watch Zirkzee plus Albert Gudmundsson.

If you read our site regularly this should not be a surprise given our exclusive a couple of months ago, which stated that Milan are scouting Zirkzee. The Dutchman seems a fit for project at 22 years of age, with Serie A experience, the potential to grow and a reasonable salary.

Tuttosport states that Milan like Zirkzee more than Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy or other centre-forwards followed in recent months such as Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord, Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig and Jonathan David of Lille.

Bayern Munich also have a €40m release clause in their favour, but this fixed price only applies to them and not to the other clubs, as Bologna’s sporting director Marco Di Vaio has reiterated several times.

It is likely that the Rossoblu imagine getting a higher price for Zirkzee today, between €50-60m if not more, and of course if Bayern do not come in to try and bring him back.

Therefore, the road is uphill for Milan even if the management have a card that could open the negotiation and lower the starting price: Alexis Saelemaekers, on loan at Bologna with a €12m option to buy.
