Tuttosport: Milan have 19,000 unsold tickets for Liverpool game – the reasons

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will return to the stands of San Siro for the Champions League opener against Liverpool, but he risks seeing a stadium that is not full when he walks out to his seat.

According to Tuttosport (via Radio Rossonera), there are currently 19,000 unsold tickets for the match between Milan and Liverpool on Tuesday night, and there are a couple of major factors which have influenced the slow sales.

First of all there is a lack of enthusiasm for the season, which stems from choice to hire Paulo Fonseca as coach and was added to by the poor results in the first three games of the campaign, contributing an overall downbeat and also angry atmosphere.

In recent years, San Siro has always been sold out or almost for Milan matches and it will be tomorrow night for the match against Venezia, where over 70,000 people are expected. However, the prices for the game against the Premier League giants are much higher.

This data should make the club reflect, given that in recent seasons it has never been a problem to fill the stadium, especially for top Champions League matches such as the one against Mo Salah and his team-mates.

The high price of tickets combined with the lack of enthusiasm aggravated by the poor start in Serie A have contributed to the choice, for the moment, of many fans to perhaps stay at home and watch on television. A convincing win tomorrow would surely help.

  1. The logic of Tuttosport.
Milan – Liverpool in UCL is not sold out because of a lack of enthusiasm for the season, poor results in serie A to start the season, but the Serie A game vs Venezia is totally sold out.

    1. Yes well there is a limit to what people are willing or able to pay to see this team.
For many fans who attend San Siro regularly they have been pushed to the limit and are not going to pay extortionate prices set by ownership to see the team hammered 4 or 5 zero by Liverpool

    2. Tuttosport is saying that Milan diehards are sending various messages to the owner and his chocolate soldiers.

Poor choice of manager for the 2024-25 season.
Poor transfer window with Furlani explaining weak excuse of 20 million transfer plan and buying 2nd level rate players.
Then the high price tickets when delivering the season that Milan don’t want.
We wait for the result in Venezia and the relentless Media execution

    3. i have paid 350euro to watch Milan-Liverpool in 2021 with enthusiasm if Milan could beat Liverpool and expecting a high level match. there were around fans from more than 150 different countries for that match.

I am not sure how many fans have same enthusiasm now to pay high price tickets with the way Milan is playing at the moment.
Especially no fan would like to see humiliation of own team by paying too much money for 1match.

  2. Acmilan should bench tomori and Loftus cheek if we want to win Liverpool then line a strong 4-2-3-1 with rejnder as attacking midfield then liberali to support second half then Okafor to play right wing then chukwueze to play second half
