AC Milan will once again be looking to their leader Zlatan Ibrahimovic in tonight’s derby against Inter, especially with key players missing.
As Tuttosport reports (via MilanNews), no Rossoneri player has done better than Ibrahimovic in the last ten years of games against Inter. In that period he has netted seven goals scored against the Nerazzurri, three of which came in 2020 and two of those in the match at the beginning of the season which ended up propelling his side to victory.
Facing Inter has always provided the Swede with great motivation, and it will be the same this time too even if it isn’t a Serie A game. With the absences of Gigio Donnarumma (suspended) and Hakan Calhanoglu (COVID-positive) Ibrahimovic will have to lead from the front.
After the heavy defeat suffered in the league against Atalanta it will be crucial for Milan to bounce back and if they do it will be yet another proof of maturity. Zlatan knows that getting caught up in the frenzy can only be counter-productive, so tonight a lot of weight will fall on his shoulders.
