Tuttosport: Milan working to lock down two stars – the meeting point for Donnarumma and Calhanoglu

By Oliver Fisher -

It will be a busy month of January for Paolo Maldini and the management as they work not only on sales and signings but also on renewals.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), talks are continuing with the entourages of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu, two leaders and pillars of Stefano Pioli’s Milan but who have contracts expiring in June 2021.

Losing two such strong players at no cost is unthinkable, but because of this it will be necessary to make an economic effort. One thing is certain: both Gigio and Hakan have never questioned their future with the Rossoneri and the pair want to stay.

In order to reach an agreement over the extension of Donnarumma it may be necessary to insert a release clause linked to Milan’s participation in the Champions League (or lack thereof). As for the salary, around €7-7.5m net per year should be enough.

On the Calhanoglu front the figures are lower, but the Turkey international would like more than the €3.5m offered by the club, though €4m plus bonuses is the expected meeting point.
