Tuttosport: Milan’s class of 1999 leading the attack – 80% of goals have gone through them

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s attacking trident of Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao have become a point of certainty for Stefano Pioli’s tactical setup.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how the aforementioned trio have had a hand in 12 of the 15 goals scored so far by the Rossoneri between the league and the Champions League. It shows that any concerns about Saelemakers, Diaz and Leao not making an impact in the final third are wide of the mark.

The Belgian and the Spaniard like to roam into spaces in order to keep the opponents guessing, creating space for Leao to pick up the ball in isolation and drive at the opposing full-back. The trio have also created an excellent relationship even off the pitch and this also helped to improve the understanding on the pitch.

They are friends first and foremost, and this is why Pioli has great faith in their chemistry. The growth path of the 1999-born trio is continuing at a great pace and also on Sunday in the match against Atalanta it will be up to them to lead the Rossoneri attack.
