Luka Modric is seemingly inclined to remain at AC Milan for one more season, and according to a report, that could have an impact on two midfield colleagues.
Right after the season ended, Modric’s departure appeared to be more or less a certainty, especially given the Rossoneri missed out on Champions League qualification. However, in the last couple of weeks, there has been a U-turn of sorts.

Modric now appears inclined to remain for one more season. He might not be able to wear the red and black shirt in the Champions League, but he can help Milan get back to the big competition as soon as possible.
Effects of Modric’s potential stay
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), if Modric stays, then one of Jashari and Ricci could leave the club. The Belgian is considered a key player by Ruben Amorim, so his exit is more unlikely, but the Italian could really struggle to get playing time.
Amorim will evaluate all of the players in pre-season and then decide what to do, because Milan might end up with too many midfielders. It’s one of the departments that could see the most change this summer as Youssouf Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also set to leave.

“The Belgian is considered a key player by Ruben Amorim, so his exit is more unlikely, but the Italian could really struggle to get playing time”
Who tf writes these articles? Jashari is Swiss, not Belgium. Can’t you juat check simple and basic facts before you write a story?
They also wrote Roberto Martinez being the coach of Belgium smh 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️crazy
One of them SHOULD leave the club regardless of Modric staying or not. Hjulmand, Modric, Bondo ?
+ Rabiot, Fofana/Ardon/Ricci, Comotto. They both need to leave, let’s be realistic & operate wisely…
Realistic is to keep them both after d amount spent on them after just a season. U realistic wud be to sell them to bring in new midfielders we wud sell off after a year again if we keep following Ur unrealistic idea
What amount? 20+ for Ricci isn’t some terrible sum nowadays (other clubs spend much bigger for that kind of a flop) and we can’t easily continue without him just like we will be able to go on without Ardon and not feel the consequences at all, I’m sure of it.
Realistic is up to Amorim I guess, he needs to get it right the first time as this is not fantasy of ball manager 😉
The point and the essence is neither of them is really needed.
the coach after watching our games and checking out players has said they are needed and that jashari is very important to him tactically.ricci is italian and is important for europe registration too plus i believe if used appropriately in his prefered holding midfield role will be a good player.u just think this is football manager where u just spend 70 mil on two players and discard them after a season like potatoes.countless players dont shine in there first season, example is tonali, kessie even leao who took two seasons to fit in.cdk shud be another point of reference why u dont just dump out players anyhow.anyways like i said ur point is d unrealistic one and d coach has taken d realistic approach
He never said that, do not fabricate things.
He will evaluate and assess them but he hasn’t watched them play yet since he has just arrived.
Rabiot Ricci Jashari and Modric
thats 4 players for 2 spots
you think thats too much? lol….
Modric is 41 years old. Him staying shouldn’t affect anyone. Also he shouldn’t have a main role in the mid do to his age. Last year Milan build around him and we saw how that went in the end. Good for few months till he run out of energy and then everything started to fall apart.
Of course, it doesn’t matter that our forwards have only scored one goal in the last few months! Modrić is to blame.
Yeah. Modric was still doing his job well at the World Cup where (in theory at least) all the best countries and players are playing. If he did well there, I’m sure he can still manage one more year in Serie A as well. 🤦♂️
If he (had) ran out of energy, the others died.
If he (had) ran out of energy, the others d*ed.
Both Jashari and Ricci should be sold. None of them fit in Amorim system. Plus Amorim wants Morten Hjulmand from Sporting Lisbon because he likes more physical midfielders.
I don’t if even know we signed Ricci and Jashari knowing that Modric plays in the same position as they do.
Sell them and replace the with the midfielders Amorim wants for his system. The only player who I see has a chance of staying is Chukwueze.
He is similar to Trincao. But Tomori, Gimenez, Pavlovic, Ricci, Jashari, Leao, Fofana, RLC etc all should be sold.
Pavlovic stays. You forgot Estupinian, he should also be kicked out
Who do we believe here you or Amorim in what fits, I am confused
Pavlovic, why him?! Tomori, Estupinan, Ricci, Ardon, Loftus-Cheek, Leao, Gimenez + Musah & Bennacer
& Bondo + possibly Chukwueze and Saelemaekers.
When the rumors settle, it will be important to consider Milan’s unfortunate participation in EL and the additional contingent Amorim will need to rotate players across all positions.
Not sure what the plan is so far.
I’d like modric to stay if he wants to buy not as a starter. The midfielders can benefit from his knowledge in trainings and he can be useful coming off the bench in matches. But starting modric in a two man midfield makes no tactical sense. Bring in hjulmand to partner rabbit with ricci rotating with hjulmand and jashari rotating with rabbit. Then let comotto have his little chances too.
Out with the old. In with the new
There’s a reason why Real transitioned him out, despite his abilities. He is world class for a few minutes but he’s also old
Ricci should be sold. Jashari go on loan 👌
That’s not a bad idea at all but that loan should be with an obligation to buy.
Modric is going to no doubt play less games. We’ll need both Ricci and Jashari. Neither should leave.
Hopefully Modric can be convinced to sign for one more year. That will buy time to find a suitable replacement. One thing that was proven…Ricci and Jashari just do not have enough quality to be decent alternatives.
