Tuttosport: Monaco’s price for Fofana not €35m – the offer Milan need to make

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan remain in talks with Monaco to try and break down the wall they have put in front of Youssouf Fofana, but they are proving to be tough negotiators.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) took stock of the negotiations between Monaco and Milan over Fofana, who is the number one midfield target that the management want to give to Paulo Fonseca.

Milan have so far offered €17m which they believe to be a fair price given that his deal runs out in less than a year. However, the Monegasques club – after an offer of €35m from West Ham arrived – are not willing to sell for that amount.

Fofana did not want to join the London club having already reached an agreement with Milan over a four-year contract at €3m net per season. Some insight was given by Monaco director Thiago Scuro yesterday regarding the stance of the Ligue 1 club.

“I have a good relationship with Fofana, there are no conflicts. There is an agreement between us that dates back to last summer and that he can leave Monaco, but we were clear about the price, the offer must be good for Fofana, but also for us; otherwise he can also stay and leave as a free agent next season,” he said.

Tuttosport add that Milan will have to increase the fixed amount of the bid to €25m, otherwise it seems unlikely he will come. The alternatives are Manu Koné (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Lazar Samardzic (Udinese), even if they are different and more attacking midfielders.

  1. Just pay it and move on. He along with Samardzic completes our midfield. This team hasnt had a creative attacking midfielder since Kaka.

    1. 25m is too much for a player in last year of his contract. It’s not like this guy is a world class midfielder.

      1. So Leny Yoro is a world class defender when Man united paid €55m for him a fortnight ago?
        Dey play, just Dey play…

        1. His value is what anyone is willing to pay. Since only West Ham have come forward with a bid, and the player wants Milan, I’d say his value is whatever the most we are willing to pay for him.

      1. Bonaventura? Kaka was both. When he played behind two strikers he was a trequartista, later a second striker.

      2. Always needing to argue. Hakan? The snake? You want to compare him to Kaka? Honda? Laughable. Paqueta? Just stop already.

Kaka was next level compared to any of these guys and he played as a 10 behind Shevchenko and Inzaghi multiple times in his career. He didnt move to SS till later.

Not everything needs to be an argument.

        1. I’m not comparing players to players. I’m just telling what they were. And all of those are were attacking midfielders. You’re the one who wants to argue about it.

Just take the L and move on then.

There have been other, decent AM players, in the club since Kaka days. Those are undeniable facts.

          Take the L brah.

          1. You’re embarrassing yourself here. I can’t think of a single attacking player we’ve had besides Zlatan that deserves to be mentioned with Kaka, who at one time was the best player on the planet.

          2. lol. No one is even in the same sphere as kaka when it comes to pace, vision, or technical skills. It’s not a win or lose my dude. This is why I say you think everything is a debate.

          3. You’re embarrassing yourself with your lack of understanding what you read..

Flossonero i’ll understand englis isnt you native lingo (isnt mine either) but do try and keep up..

I wrote, and its real easy to understand this, ‘I’m not comparing players to players’.

          4. TAKE THE F*CKING L YOU STUPID C*NT..

This team hasnt had a creative attacking midfielder since Kaka.. YES WE DID.

The players we had were not on the lvl of Kaka (DUH) but they, in fact, were creative attacking midfielders. AND THIS IS ALL IM TALKING ABOUT. MILAN DID HAVE CREATIVE AM SINCE KAKA! PERIOD!

            HOW FKN SUTPID ARE YOU?

          5. Dude stop. You’re embarrassing yourself with all this stupid talk plus that take the L sh!t. What are you twelve years old?

          6. You need to check the anger at the door. You are unhinged. Calling people pedofiles? Such a tough guy over a keyboard. Grow up. Its a sports blog. People have different opinions.

          7. I’m not angry. I just thought, since you clearly don’t understand what I’m writing, you don’t see all that well. So I used big letters for your convenience. Thx btw.

Also seems like you’re confusing opinions with facts. That ac milan HAD creative attacking players since kaka days is not an opinion..it’s a fact, I even named a few.

    1. 20m€ is fair I think, + some bonuses and it is okey, but true is we have so many players in midfield. They need to sell firts. I think they don’t buy him in next few days, they will play waiting game … firt need to buy RB (Royal) ..

  2. Pulisic no 10.

Reijnders Loftus and Bennacer with Musah In middle.

Bring right back, one more new striker and wait for Fofana in January.

    1. Why no one is talking about playing Terraciano as a RB his preferred foot and buy a Left footed LB as Theo backup instead of buying another right back in Royal Emerson

      Kalulu
      Calabria
      Terraciano
      Florenzi if back from injury

      All are right footed RB

      1. Why is no one asking that there are following choices on the market and we are going for Emerson Royal:

Cancelo (Barca can’t buy him and Guardiola perma-benched him), Geertruida, Mazraoui, Kayode, Couto (BVB bought him for 20M, Emerson 15M), Vanderson, Dedic, Dodo, Bellanova…

  3. Why one more striker, for me Morata as n.1 striker, then there is Jovic who has experience in Seria A and LM and will be deputy , third striker for our Milan Futuro or Primavera ( for me Colombo who going on loan to Empoli, or Nasti for example..) Don’t need to buy another mid – striker for 20m€ like was mentioned in these articles Abraham.. and yes RB is now priority (Royal soon)

  4. 20 mil is a fair price for fofana.
England clubs are way superior on spending thats why they get what they want.
As for samardgic u mention before is an ok player but if we want to see the old Milan we should give 60 mil and get olmo we dodnt want any more average players!

  5. Wait to get him for free next season. If you’re gonna pay 25m for him there are better players out there. Even a Rabiot on high wages would be better and he’s free.

Sell Pobega and Adli, buy a defensive midfielder and lock him down for next season on a free transfer.

  6. Fofana is an excellent player, but honestly Manu Kone fits the system way more.
In all cases, if the management is not willing to pay 25 for Fofana, then they won’t get Kone, coz that’s probably a more difficult and expensive deal to strike.
Bottom line. Let’s wait for Amrabt on the last day of the mercato.

  7. the club need royal to complement Tomori not another primary school student to tutor on the pitch. as Pavlovic with complement theo. and vice versa. and youths can be used randomly based on their raw talents.

it is as simple as that

  8. For me, I’ll want the players to step up their games with the mindset that the new players would make them stay on the bench if they don’t up their games.
The players are quite good but there’s always room for significant improvement.

  9. That’s why Milan can never grow. We need quality player to compite at top level, we need top player, fofana, Audler Guler, Samardicz and so on. Bring them in less compete with inter-milan, and juv.

  10. I think 20 million + Small bonus would be the maximum threshold and still fair. Yes, it’s his last contract year, but he has a value of over 30 million, is a French national player, brings experience, etc. We won’t find a better alternative for under 25 million, which is why 20 million + a small bonus would be a fair deal.
