Tuttosport: Moncada working with Kia – Milan remain optimistic over €40m deal

By Oliver Fisher -

The soap opera of who will be AC Milan’s next head coach is about to end, a report claims, and now the management hope to give him an ideal welcoming gift.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) are reporting this this morning, Milan are continuing to push for the Bologna striker, who has been their first choice target for the striker role for months. The Rossoneri have been following Zirkzee since the end of last year as we reported at the time.

Direct contacts in London between technical director Geoffrey Moncada and the Dutchman’s agent – Kia Joorbachian – have continued in recent days to try to reach an agreement on commissions.

This is the last issue to be resolved, because once that is agreed Milan are ready to pay the €40m clause to release him for Bologna and personal terms will be no issue because a contract worth €4-5m net per season is ready.

Milan have made their choice as has the player, who has made it clear for some time that he wants to stay in Italy and that the Rossoneri are very much a welcome destination.

However, Joorabchian is a tough nut to crack and dealing with him is not easy at all. For this reason, other tracks are also kept alive such as Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord who is the main alternative ahead of Serhou Guirassy and Jonathan David.

    1. because the quality of a player is more then just numbers. for example when we signed piantek he scored 19 goals before coming to Milan. the rest is history

now in the case of zirkzee he is clearly someone who has allot of qualities to his game such hold play which is excellent, a very skillfull players which is a bonus, involved in buildup play and creates a llot of chances for team mates.

so it seems the management are taking all of that into consideration before coming to the conclusion

i think this would be a very good signing and would work very well with this Milan team

      1. Piotek would be good for us if we have better players. He joined us in the banter era where we don’t have any creative players and overal we just bad. After some harsh criticism, he seemed to lost confidence.
If he join us now with current players he could be good

        1. Yeah. Piatek had an insane goals for chances ratio. He would have been a +20 goals per year striker if only he had decent service. Certain Higuain didn’t do any better and he broke the goal scoring record for Serie A just a couple of years earlier. Piatek wasn’t as bad as people here claim.

And the same applies to Carlos Bacca. Lots of goals from low amount of chances. Although he only had one leg and his passing & link up play was beyond terrible. But as a goal scorer? Top class.

        2. Piatek did well with us in the second half of the 18/19 season, scoring a goal every other game with essentially what was a mid-table team, which is actually pretty good.
At that time, I thought we secured the striker position, and that we only needed a coach not named Giampaolo and better players in other positions.
But starting from the 19/20 season, he essentially stopped scoring so often, and with the arrival of Zlatan, he had to go.
Also I’m not suggesting to ditch Zirkzee, but if we want to look for alternatives, might as well look for Dobryk.

      2. Zirkzee is a second striker, not a natural 9 and has scored less than cdk and hardly any more than jovic… now explain the 60 mio investment, including ridiculous agent fee
