Tuttosport: Okafor and the €14m blitz carried out by Milan – the background

Noah Okafor joined AC Milan from RB Salzburg in the summer and it was a deal that came out of nowhere. In just a few days, the Rossoneri reached an agreement with the Austrian side, as a report highlights.

One of Milan’s priorities this summer was to find a deputy for Olivier Giroud, negotiating with Marcus Thuram for a very long time. However, the Frenchman ended up saying no to the Rossoneri’s offer and this forced them to look elsewhere.

As soon as the ‘no’ arrived, Giorgio Furlani didn’t waste any time and quickly opened talks with Salzburg, as reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews). In just a couple of days, and in great secrecy as well, they reached an agreement at €14m. The work of the player’s agents was also crucial.

Okafor was seen as the perfect Plan B as he, just like Thuram, can play both as a striker and as a left-winger. Of course, Milan also ended up getting Luka Jovic for the attack which will make it possible for the Swiss international to focus more on the left flank.
