Tuttosport: Trio of summer signings send a message after difficult start at Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s summer transfer window was certainly a busy one but it has divided opinion in terms of how various players have performed since arriving, but some encouraging signs arrived.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) this morning writes about how the attack was the subject of an overhaul in the summer with Christian Pulisic, Samuel Chukwueze, Noah Okafor, Luka Jovic and Luka Romero arriving However, only one really had an impact and it was the USA international.

Pulisic now has six goals this season, of which five came in the league and one – the equaliser in Newcastle – in the Champions League. Of all these, several were decisive goals and this is also an aspect worth highlighting.

Pulisic alone is not enough though, with more contributions needed from others. In Newcastle there were positive signs as Jovic, Chukwueze and Okafor built the counter-attack to make it 2-1, with the Nigeria international finishing it brilliantly to get his second UCL goal.

Jovic was signed right at the end of the summer mercato to be the new deputy to Olivier Giroud and he has improved significantly in recent games, scoring against Frosinone and Atalanta, while Okafor too is back from injury and has a couple of goals.

Technical director Geoffrey Moncada spoke well of Jovic and Chukwueze after the England trip: “Jovic has been doing interesting things for five games. Chukwueze? I’m happy for him because he’s a good guy who works a lot and I’m sure that the future for him will be good for us.”

And the future is Sunday, as both are candidates for a starting shirt. Giroud and Pulisic, squeezed to the bone lately, could start from the bench. The objective of Jovic and Chukwueze, as well as Okafor, will be to give continuity to their performances.

  1. I wish Jovic well. He must stay at Milan. He is 25yrs,has quite an experience. It’s about time Milan get a striker we can rely on for a decade. Like how inter has Lautaro& Thurman, Juve has Vlahovic and Chiesa. This team must look beyond giroud, he did his part, but not a serious treat like Osimhen, Lautaro or Thuram. Forza Milan
