Tuttosport: From Orsolini to Asensio – Milan on the hunt for a winger who scores

AC Milan are on the hunt for a right winger who can guarantee a greater number of goals and assists compared to the current options, with three players top of the list.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write this morning that one of the missions for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will be to sign a reinforcement for the right side where Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias have failed to really hold down a starting spot.

Milan are after a player who offers a higher output in terms of goal contributions. Not only would this increase the team’s attacking threat on that particular side, but it would also ease some of the burden on the left flank and potentially open up more space for Rafael Leao.

Among the many names that have been mentioned, the ones that intrigue the fans the most are Chelsea’s Hachim Ziyech, Galatasaray’s Nicolò Zaniolo and Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio.

These three profiles seem to be destined to remain market dreams because of the costs involved. Ziyech and Asensio have high salary demands, while Zaniolo would cost €30m+ as per his release clause.

However, the chances of signing Riccardo Orsolini from Bologna have risen. He has scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists this season and his deal runs out in just over a year. Fiorentina and Torino are interested, but if Milan came along that would change everything.

  1. Orsolini has a wierd career. He seems to have had great promise but never really had a breakthrough. He hasn’t really gotten the chance in the italian national team either despite scoring two goals in two matches. I wonder why he isn’t very sought after and priced so low.

To me he seems like a catch for 10-15 million €

    1. Because he is not that good. He has a good shot but lacks speed which is a must for a winger. Also i think good number of his goals are from penalties. Messia had similar stats when we brought him. Orsolini is younger and a bit better then Messia but don’t expect miricales from him either. Milan should look for RW in Brazil where there are pleanty of good young wingers with great potential. It would pay of much better, just look at how Real does it.
PS. If we want Italian maybe Baldanzi shoud be scoutet if he can play as a RW or not. He is a big talent too.

  2. N Zaniola and Kamada are No 10 Playmakers so sign Both of R Orsalini and Zaniola .
Amd even we will Dominate National team Azzuri

  3. I would take Orsolini over Ziyech, I would take Orsolini over Zaniolo who’s an overrated flop his stat is not different from that of Messias plus he’s injury prone too.

Asensio is expensive despite free, his agent commission and his wages is something Milan can’t afford.

  4. The dream is Asensio an Zaniolo. Asensio will be extremely tricky as many clubs want him. And we’re dealing with Mendez here. Zaniolo will be too expensive for this TW.

So the logical choice is Orsolini. We need someone who has enough experience on the Serie A so it’ll cut lots of adaptation period. And of course, his price is Milan-able

  5. Orsolini would seem like good value – compared to the other players being talked about, he seems a ‘known quantity’ and immediate upgrade from what we currently have

Asensio, Ziyech or Zaniolo might have a higher ceiling, but they’ll have far higher demands and be much riskier

    1. Orsolini. I’ve been saying his name over and over when these RW articles come out. Great value at probably 10m. Also, I bet his numbers would have been better had he not been playing for a Bologna set up to play a more defensive style, as they were with Mihajlovic (who also sent him to the bench for spells). It’s no coincidence he’s had his best year with Motta.

  6. Maldini should sign zaniolo instead of Loftus cheek then sign ritsu for right wing it send scout to scout Bundesliga

    1. Ritsu is good, but Kang-in Lee who is the same price is next level. He dribles like Messi. Any way both of those players are within our budget. We should really chose carefully for the RW position since it is the number one spot that needs to be strenghten.

  7. 1) Edon Zhegrova is the cheapest 7mill and comparable as a left footed Kvaratskhelia form the right (uncommon & maybe better), go check his stats and talent it’s no joke.

    2) A time has come we had more Italians who either start for Italy or are the immediate future of Italian football,

I don’t know what’s up with the interest with Zaniolo [we need a little bit more peninsula spirit in that squad]

It doesn’t go down well with the respect of the team when no player starts for Italy right now.

    3) Orsolini maybe but I don’t see that Guy even sitting on the bench of Italy if all the Italian right wingers are inform.

    Forza Milan

  8. Asensio & Ziyech are best option for RW but AC Milan salary cap only 4m euro nett for new player. Realistic choice only orsolini that can come with 10-15m euro due to his contract 1 years left and he will accept salary 2-2,5m euro nett/years

    1. Well said @Reccaman. Orsolini like El Shawarry are average players. Upgrade over Messias and a bit better than Salesemakers. But Neither are dynamic and can consistently break the lines but as you said we are limited by our wage cap and transfer budget so names like Asenio are just dreams that we cannot afford.
