Tuttosport: Pioli has multiple doubts to resolve before Bologna trip – the six selection battles

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is considering some rotation for Saturday’s game against Bologna as the Rossoneri return to Serie A action.

According to what is being reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the first big bit of news is that Pioli could choose to field Samu Castillejo from the first minute in place of Alexis Saelemaekers who struggled during the game at Porto.

The Spaniard on the other hand was decisive in the previous league match against Hellas Verona and the coach could repay him with a starting spot, which would be the first of the season for Samu.

There are a couple of doubts in defender as Pierre Kalulu and Fodé Ballo-Touré are battling playing for a starting shirt. Should the former win, Davide Calabria would be deployed on the left. Alessio Romagnoli is expected to replace one of Simon Kjaer or Fikayo Tomori.

Franck Kessie will be back in the double pivot but it remains to be seen whether Ismael Bennacer or Sandro Tonali will be at his side. Rafael Leao should be on the left wing with Rade Krunic and Daniel Maldini battling for the attacking midfielder role, while Olivier Giroud should start up front but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is vying for a start.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Calabria (Kalulu), Kjaer, Romagnoli (Tomori), Ballo-Touré (Calabria); Bennacer (Tonali), Kessie; Castillejo, Maldini (Krunic), Rafael Leao; Giroud (Ibrahimovic).
