Tuttosport: Pioli has one of his pillars back – Rebic ready to resume crucial tactical role for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Ante Rebic will be straight back into a starting sport for Monday night’s game against Bologna at San Siro, according to a report.

Alexis Saelemaekers worked hard against Shamrock Rovers, but there is no risk of the Belgian keeping Rebic out of the team against Bologna, with the Croatia international having missed the trip to Ireland due to suspension.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) points out, the forward is one of Milan’s certainties, a pillar of Pioli’s team. It is for this reason that it was not a surprise when it was announced earlier this month that he has joined on a permanent deal until 2025.

His initial impact at the club up until Christmas was virtually non existent, but in the new year he exploded, scoring 12 goals between the league and Coppa Italia despite rumours in January that he could even return to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tomorrow, in the match against Bologna, Rebic will resume his position as the left winger. His tactical role is quite interesting though, as the 26-year-old tends to get close to goal and play off Ibrahimovic, with Theo Hernandez providing the width down the right and Calhanoglu dropping deeper to quarterback the attacking play.
