Tuttosport: Pioli has Reijnders doubt ahead of PSG game with duo vying to replace him

By Oliver Fisher -

One the eve of AC Milan’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain, there seems to be some doubts about the line-up that Stefano Pioli will field.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) talks about how Pioli will once again be able to count on Theo Hernández, Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze who are all back in full training with the squad.

There are not many doubts about the line-up that Pioli will field but one of them concerns Tijjani Reijnders, who has appeared rather subdued in the last few games.

While Pioli is unlikely to do without the Dutchman, it cannot be ruled out that one of either Yunus Musah or Tommaso Pobega could replace him and start on the left of the midfield three, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rade Krunic the other two.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3 ): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernández; Loftus-Cheek, Krunić, Reijnders (Musah/Pobega); Pulisic, Giroud, Leão.

Bench: Mirante, Nava, Bartesaghi, Florenzi, Kjær, Adli, Musah, Pobega, Chukwueze, Jović, Okafor.

  1. Tijjani Reijnders is exhausted.
From the Napoli match it was already visible, and Mr. Pioli wasted the next 2 games realizing that and forcing him to continue playing 50+ minutes on the pitch.
Maybe it’s okay if he and the other players are mentally fine. But physical fatigue combined with waning enthusiasm was very visible on the field.
Less options on the bench, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any, right??

  2. Agreed. One area that Pioli definitely needs to address is riding certain players into the ground unnecesarily. Even when he rotates, he insists on bringing on the rotated players in the 2nd half regardless of the scoreline. I understand a reliance on core players but more than one is feeling the effects of heavy minutes (Reijnders, Theo, Leao, Giroud, etc.)

  3. HAHA. Of course Krunic will start again. Why wouldn’t he, he was only the worst player on the pitch in the last match with PSG.
Just a reminder that we didn’t lose a single match while Krunic was out with an injury. Since his return, 3 losses and blown 2-0 lead against Napoli. I kept saying Pioli’s love for Krunic is going to cost him his job and now we are seeing it in real time.

  4. I wish Tomori would have knocked Krunic in the training session and let him go for five years injury . Ridiculous Pioli to start Krunic again.

  5. a smart coach would have rested him vs mid table teams and let adli play there but NO.
the man is so unaware of players’ capablities/cowardly and stubborn that now we find ourselves in this situation.
he’ll probably once again start mr. 46% pass accuracy vs psg
