Tuttosport: Pioli’s position not at risk but next two games could be decisive

By Oliver Fisher -

There are no suggestions that Stefano Pioli’s job as AC Milan head coach is at imminent risk but the next two games could be decisive, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) speaks of a very difficult last month for Milan, barring the win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last Tuesday. They have zero league victories and have twice surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw.

Obviously the first to end up in the dock, especially among the fans, is Pioli who is now under scrutiny. For now the management and the owners have not questioned him and continue to confirm their trust in him, but it is clear that a turning point will be needed immediately.

After the break, Milan will play against Fiorentina in Serie A and then have what could be a decisive Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund at home. Not getting through to the knockout stages would be a big blow for the club, both in terms of image and the money missed out on.

The paper are keen to stress that Milan have faith in Pioli, but it is necessary to turn things around in addition to trying to understand how to solve a problem that is significantly influencing the Devil’s season: sustaining too many injuries.

In reality, this is an issue that has been impacting the Rossoneri for years, but perhaps it has been underestimated until now. It needs to be resolved in a very short time.
