Tuttosport: The players involved as Milan strike up axis with Torino

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and Torino have been in talks over the last few weeks, but not just about one player. In fact, the two clubs have struck up an axis involving three players, a report claims.

It’s not exactly a secret that Torino are interested in Tommaso Ppobega, who spent the 2021/22 season on loan at the club with great success. Milan and Stefano Pioli decided to keep him for this past season, but now they could agree to sell him.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (see photo below), the players involved in the talks are Pobega, Junior Messias and Wilfried Singo. The Brazilian is one of the top targets for Il Toro and he could leave Milan for €3-5m, given his age and contract length.

As for Pobega, Torino are indeed interested and have made that known to Milan, who in turn have said that they will consider the sale. However, they are currently busy with other negotiations (some for the midfield) and will have to discuss the matter again in 14 days.

Finally, Singo has been named as a potential counterpart in the Pobega offer but as stated by the newspaper, Torino and Milan have both agreed that all the deals will be handled separately. At the age of 22, but with a contract expiring next year, the full-back has a price tag of €15m, but it could go down to €12m.

Some Premier League clubs are interested in Singo and Torino have assured Milan that they will have first right, able to match whatever offer arrives.

  1. Pobega has two big problems, he is a very meh passer and not great at holding midfielder duties, but on the plus side he is probably the best goal scorer out of our mids, a physical beast and can go on the special squad lists.

Imo there is more pointing towards keeping him, but he is definitely not unsellable.

Ultimately it also comes down to him being ok with being a rotation player at Milan if he can be a starter for Torino.

    1. But you need about 6 CMs if you will play 4-3-3, Milan has 5 with Bennacer who is out for at least half of the season. It makes no sense to sell him, especially since he is homegrown so Milan will be able to register less players for CL if they can’t fill up those spots.

      1. We have 6, I think you missed Adli.

You are right but neither Adli nor Pobega are pillars that cannot be replaced with new mids, its not like our football is built around them.

  2. swap pobega and singo and just sell messias 5m just any price coz we only need to sell him we arent getting 10m 9m 8m 7m 6m so just sell him

    1. Why would you straight swap a more expensive player like Pobega for someone like Singo who is worth less ? When Pobega was given the playing time in Torino he was worth almost double of Singo. It makes no sense for Milan to go for a straight swap without aditional cash from Torino. Not to mention that Milan already has 3 RB.

    1. That doesn’t mean he’s a good match for the current team. I like the idea of Pobega but I don’t like his playing style. He isn’t very good at anything and he’s very clumsy when he trys to be physical. He got so many free kicks against him and yellow cards.

  3. Not pobega , he is good if ACM change formation to 433. Just offer junior + 7m euro for singo . Singo counted as homegrown , he is from torino academy

    1. They are busy with negotiation with other player yunus musah or dominques ( midfield ) also maybe CF & RW position . ACM only have one DS and one CEO to negotiate deal

  4. Singo is homegrown and would be a huge upgrade bet Calabria. Definitely should make this happen. Sell Messias for whatever we can get. Messias and some cash for Singo would be a steal. Teach Singo how to defend like we did with Theo and he will be devastating on the Right bombing up and down. Calabria would be the ideal backup.

If we have to include Pobega so be it. He’s a back up at this point. RLC Reijdners and Musah will be the starters until Benny returns in a 4-3-3 with Krunic (who Pioli trusts) as the first choice back up. We still have Adli who hasn’t been sold yet and may be kept if we switch to a 4-3-3. If we stay with the double pivot then for sure we don’t need him as showed by his poor displays last season. Pobega needs more PT to grow. Like I said before if we truly believe this kid will develop into a star then insert a buy back clause or first option in the event of a sale. If it means we can get Singo for him then I would def do it. Singo can add a dimension to our attack that we desperately lack from the right side – so teams can no longer overload the left. A Singo with Chukuweze would be devastating offensively and would free Leao/Theo from constant double teams. This is a no brainer. Get it done Georgio
