Tuttosport: PSG retain interest in Milan’s Leao with Mbappe leaving

By Euan Burns -

French side Paris Saint-Germain still hold a serious interest in AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, especially now that they are set to lose star player Kylian Mbappe.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Ligue 1 champions are going to be major players in the transfer market this summer, as they always are anyway, because they need to replace the goals that they lose with Mbappe’s departure.

He is expected to sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer, having communicated to PSG that he will not be signing a new contract.

That puts every club in Europe with talented wide forwards on alert as PSG have got a lot of financial muscle and offer an opportunity to win trophies, albeit with limited competition given the gap between them and their competitors in Ligue 1.

Their sporting director is the Portuguese Luis Campos, who knows Leao very well, and he thinks that the Rossoneri star could be an ideal replacement for Mbappe, with Milan braced for offers.

He has played well against PSG in the past, but having signed a new contract last season, it would take a lot of money to make Milan sell him. It is hard to picture Milan demanding any less than €100m for their most valuable asset.

  1. No we don’t sell, we don’t just lose Rafa, we lose the Rafa-Theo partnership which is out deadliest weapon.

He only goes at 175m and then only if he wants to. 175m is not enough to replace what we lose….there, use moneyball against itself

    1. for 150+ it would be an ok deal. It’s about being smart with that money. clubs lose big stars all the time, Ronaldo went to Madrid, Kane went to Bayern, Neymar went to PSG. They key is what to do with the money. Are we a barcelona who burned the Neymar money on Coutinho, Dembele and other guys who didnt work at all? OR are we Liverpool who sold coutinho and got Alisson, van Dijk and reinforced their midfield?
      that’s the key.

  2. Leao is our most dangerous attacking player. No question about that. But I think considering everything, I personally would sell. His feet wouldn’t be anything less than 100 mil I assume.
My only fear is it could trigger a cascade of other departures as well. Notable of which is Theo. I can imagine PSG drooling to get that left wing combo.

I think this summer would mark a great punctuation point in this Elliot-Redbird Milan project. I foresee a lot of changes all round

    1. Leao is our most dangerous attacking player, No question about that. As frustrating as he can be sometimes.

      *Just wanted to add that*
