Tuttosport: Pulisic labelled ‘the mild-mannered leader of Milan’ after incredible form

By Euan Burns -

Christian Pulisic’s wonderful first season as an AC Milan player has seen him become the clear favourite to win the MVP award for the 2023/24 season.

As highlighted by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the American winger is now ‘the mild-mannered leader of Milan’ a reference to his incredibly calm temperament both on and off of the pitch.

With his goal against Hellas Verona last weekend, Pulisic has now reached a number of goals that he has never scored before in a season.

He has got 12 goals so far this season, and there are still two months to go. Nine of them have come in Serie A, and he has also got eight assists to his name.

Having been involved in 20 goals for Milan, he is undoubtedly one of the most important players of the season and will go down as the best signing of the 2023 summer transfer window.

Fellow former Chelsea player Ruben Loftus-Cheek would usually have a claim to being the best new signing of the summer given his first season at Milan has been very impressive, but nobody can compete with Pulisic.

If Milan are to win the Europa League this season, Pulisic will be crucial and his performances have limited the impact of Rafael Leao having a poor year in front of goal.

  1. Wow , all of this while playing on the right wing , imagine he was playing his favourite position on the left 😳. CLASS

    1. He doesn’t have pure speed and wild dribbling skills like Leao but look at young C. Ronaldo and Messi. Who is known for all the step overs and tricks? If you look at Messi’s movement, quickness, and touch, Puli is like a B version of that. He’s obviously not Messi but his talents are in the same vain. If we use him like teams used Messi or even David Silva etc, then he is better than Leao generally speaking. Once Leao loses his pace, what does he have that’s def better than Puli apart from tricks? Leao has the potential to be better than Puli at almost everything but potential is not reality. This is why people get impatient with him, he should be hitting Ronaldo/Messi type numbers in goals and it’s weird that he’s not even in double digits this year (for series A). Imagine where we’d be in the table without Puli’s contributions. Leao has a lot of assists and does a lot of good off the ball in attack, that’s clear. It’s a team game and Leao and Puli both help each other in lots of ways, but the gulf between Leao and Puli is much smaller than what most people think. It’s kinda like Vegeta and Goku, Goku doesn’t seem to have to try as hard and has the POTENTIAL to take great leaps in power. Vegeta has to scratch and crawl for every inch but in the end he and Goku are extremely close in ability and in the latest movie, Vegeta actually won a fight (even though we didn’t technically see it lol). Either way, I love having both, b/c who wouldn’t want both Vegeta and Goku on your team?

    2. Leao is trash. That’s right I said it. No field vision and very poor soccer iq does not equate to great players. I don’t care how fast he runs.

He needs to be more well rounded. Makes a lot of mistakes.

  2. After all these years we have a Rt Flank that actually works and contributes… Keep Chris there. He has exceeded all expectations so far.

Chuk needs to raise his performances to be able to play, because I would be curious to see Chris play in RLC’s position. The Englishman has been good but not consistent.

    1. I agree 100%. It’s a great position to be in b/c it gives us time to be patient with Chuck. Unless there are serious attitude or work rate issues in training (which I don’t think exists) then Chuck should be given another year. I really want him to be the answer there, Puli can play CAM, 2nd striker, LW, so he can play equally well or better in more than 1 position so we really need to find out if Chuck can do it, at the very least, we need to have Chuck perform better to get a decent sale for him.

    2. Yeah i was also pretty much expecting us to field pulisic centrally and chukueze on the right wing when we bought them as it would have been an intriguing set up with leao on the left side. Before this season started pulsic’s stats in the cam role compared to matches and minutes played was actually the best there,

  3. I’ve said this before, but it remains true. He’s a bit like the oil that lubricates the entire system and keeps it running smoothly….as shown by the fact that his absence is often immediately felt.
