Tuttosport: Rangnick the key as Milan look beat Liverpool, Lazio to €30m Hungary star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are indeed interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai for next season but face competition from a rival, it is claimed.

It was recently reported by Tuttosport – among other outlets – that the Hungary international is a concrete target for Milan as they look to inject youth into their midfield department.

They also added that Liverpool, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig – who boasts a preferential lane by being owned by Red Bull just like Salzburg – are all interested in the €30m-rated midfielder.

As Friday’s edition of the same outlet notes (via MilanNews), official confirmation of the Rossoneri’s interest in Szoboszlai has arrived.

The player, in an interview with DAZN on Thursday, said: “At this moment I can not say anything about the interest of Milan. If it were to go to port, it means that it was destined. The final decision is up to me, but I have also other proposals. I will make the choice that I think is best for my career.”

Tuttosport believe therefore that Szoboszlai has opened the door to Milan and that his profile, among other things, appears perfect for the club’s owners Elliott Management.

However, the Diavolo will have to be careful of the competition which includes Lazio, who in fact have been following him for some time and sporting director Igli Tare has already had contacts with the player’s entourage.

Milan therefore starts behind but knows they can play important cards, such as Ralf Rangnick who – barring surprises – should be the next Milan head coach.

Szoboszlai plays at Red Bull Salzburg, a team that the German manager knows very well as he currently holds the position of Head of Football Development for the energy drink brand.
