Tuttosport: ‘The real alternative’ – Lukaku is not the preference for Milan

By Ben Dixon -

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that AC Milan will turn to Romelu Lukaku if their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee is unsuccessful, but a report has now claimed that there is another player in mind.

The chase for Zirkzee is tricky, which seems to divert consistently with new threats coming to light regularly. However, with the mercato open and the Dutchman’s release clause active, there is an end in sight.

If Milan are unsuccessful, they will immediately turn to a different avenue, one that is reportedly preferred by Paulo Fonseca, and that is a more physical striker, rather than a more technically gifted player.

It has seemed that Lukaku has been the preferred player fitting this profile, but a report from Tuttosport (via Milan News) has now suggested that this is not the case.

Instead, if the road to Zirkzee fails, the choice will be Santiago Gimenez, the Mexican striker from Feyenoord. With a fantastic goal record and a profile that matches Fonseca’s desires, if things come to a half for the Dutchman, the road to the Netherlands will be open.

There is a €50 million price tag over the striker’s head, but he would probably cost less than Zirkzee due to the commissions being demanded in that respective deal.

  1. Mexico got knocked out and main reason was lack of goals ie ineffective. Dutch league is hit and miss. 50m is a big gamble for a player who hasn’t played nor provides any likelihood of adapting to a top league. Lukaku is older and on higher wages but his proven in serie A. Better yet promote Carmada and rotate him with Okafor + proven CF.

  2. The “reliable” tutosport just throwing out names. I don’t think anyone will pay 50M for this dude.. not to mention Mexican players peak fast and then disappear for the rest of their career

  3. This seems very believable…..I mean He’s only 5M less than Zirkzee, just had a terrible Copa America where Mexico crashed out; had only half a season in the Dutch league of good play; BUT is playing in the Dutch league where goals are much easier to come by….hmmmm

So to save 5M we would rather an unproven player in Serie A instead of a proven player in Zirkzee who wants to come to Milan and has agreed to terms???? Ya makes total sense to gamble on Gimenez to save a few bucks. I don’t know what we are waiting for if the kid was French, Moncada would have picked him up at the airport already

    Good times

    1. Dude what is your deal. Nothing but a troll.

Go on your own teams website.

So weird. Never seen a kid wanting so much attention.

Nobody give a $h*t what you think or say and your passive aggressive nature is nauseating. Give it a rest kid

      1. I do not give a f about what you think of me. Actually, I find it amusing when someone gets furious and angry for no reason. Keep talking, you are funny.

        1. Not furious at all it’s just bizarre and it just makes you look pathetic. I feel sorry for you bro. So desperate for attention you need to comment on your rivals site. A Real winner lol

      2. What’s worse it boggles my mind ppl even giving him the time of day. Once he started to get smug about their two stars for me that’s the line crossed. I’ve never seen a rival fan so invested in the other team’s dealings, signings and overall health of the club. I can’t fathom going to Inter’s site, writing my name as AC Milan fan and be all smug in their comments section.
This is the keyboard warrior era. Ppl can do that. For sure he won’t do that in real life (walk into the Curva sud with an Inter kit for example) but it’s easy to do that on the internet and knows he can get away with it. It’s an attention seeking wh0re behavior and he epitomizes it perfectly
