Tuttosport: Rebic’s time at Milan could end as winger becomes discontent with situation

By Oliver Fisher -

Ante Rebic’s time at Milan could come to an end this summer as the winger is not entirely content with his current situation, a report claims.

According to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Rebic could leave Milan ahead of the 2022-23 season despite the fact his contract will expire in June 2025. Rafael Leao is ahead of him in the pecking order and while he can play as a striker if needed, the Croatian does not consider it his favourite role and he wants more playing time on the left.

Not only that, but the fact that Milan are signing Divock Origi and are also looking at profiles like Gianluca Scamacca means there is a risk of him ending up on the sidelines even more.

To all this we must add how Rebic’s last season was not the most positive as he managed three goals in all competitions and was affected by numerous injury problems, having netted 11 times in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Tuttosport even add that the former Eintracht Frankfurt man will not be pleased to see his name included in a possible negotiation with Roma for Nicolò Zaniolo, so a good offer could see Rebic and Milan part ways.

  1. Sad but understandable. Not going find much playing time behind Leao. And even if Milan ended up selling Leao, they would buy someone else to be the starter instead of Rebic.

Such a shame really. And if he’ll end up playing as a RW in his new club then I’ll really get mad because he should have been at least tested on that position in Milan.

    1. Agree. Although it seems he wants the LW to be happy. IF he isnt happy playing CF or RW (assuming he wants to) then let him leave. I like him and he’s a good player but if you arent happy, then leave. I’d be thankful for the work he has done for us

  2. Rebic is good for brute force work where Leao cannot succeed. Sometimes, you need a fast dagger and sometimes a hammer.
And the upcoming season is long. We will definitely need someone to back Leao. Keep him until we find someone better. I don’t see we have a lot of money to just let players go.
