It was not the best weekend for AC Milan, who failed to take advantage of a Juventus slip by losing to Spezia, and then Inter took top spot.
As Tuttosport writes (via MilanNews), the defeat at La Spezia was damaging enough, but last night Inter beat an in-form Lazio side at home to send a statement and they are now ahead by a point. It was, therefore, a weekend to forget therefore for the Diavolo who will now have to react immediately.
Milan will next play on Thursday in Belgrade by the Red Star in the first leg of the round of 32 of the Europa League and it is a game that cannot be underestimated given how good the Serbian side have been domestically.
The Rossoneri will have to prove that in Liguria it was just a bad night, and the strategy might well be to try and take care of the tie in the first leg with a win.
Then, the derby against Inter is scheduled for Sunday afternoon: if Milan were to win it, they would overtake the Nerazzurri in the standings and return to the top of the table. Even then though, seven days later the team will travel to the Olimpico to face Roma, a team that, despite some problems of their own, continues to win.
