Tuttosport: Romagnoli in the eye of the storm as Raiola wants pay rise despite constant errors

AC Milan must resolve the future of Alessio Romagnoli sooner rather than later, but must do so against a backdrop of inconsistent performances.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes, some Rossoneri fans have have now pointed the finger at the captain Romagnoli, who they believe to be guilty of having constant bad performances in games where the team need their leader to pull them through.

The blunders in the big match against Inter seem to have been ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back’ as per the newspaper, as it is the latest of many situations in which he has not shown himself up to par. All of this is magnified by the fact he wears the armband, something that should make him the last to give up and not the first.

The renewal issue does not help as Romagnoli is under contract until 2022 and his agent Mino Raiola has asked Milan for a salary of €4.5m net per season, compared to the €3m that the centre-back currently earns. It is a raise that – in the eyes of a growing number of supporters – has not been earned.
