Tuttosport: From Scudetto to top four battle – Milan have crumbled in just one month

AC Milan have gone from Scudetto contenders to potentially missing out on the top four, as highlighted by Tuttosport, following a big collapse in recent weeks.

While many headed into the season with low expectations, it quickly became clear that Milan could do more under Massimiliano Allegri’s guidance. However, in just one month, the Rossoneri’s solidity has been wiped out and could result in a proper free fall in the standings.

The defeat against Udinese, which ended 0-3, was truly resounding and alarm bells are now going off at Milanello, as well as at Casa Milan.

Champions League at risk

As highlighted by today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan have suffered three of their five league defeats just in the last month. Furthermore, these defeats have all been in the last four games, failing to score in four of their last seven games too.

Before the game against Parma on February 22, Milan had only lost one game and only once had they failed to score (Juventus, 0-0). In other words, we are talking about a sudden change of pace that is truly worrying, also because the Champions League qualification is now at risk.

Juventus are now just three points behind Milan, fourth in terms of position, and Como could move within two points against Inter tonight. In two weeks, there will also be the big direct clash between the Rossoneri and the Bianconeri, which will be absolutely crucial for both sides.

It’s crazy to think that just a month ago, Milan celebrated doing the double over Inter in the Derby della Madonnina, closing the gap to seven points. Now, the Scudetto is a faded memory and even the Champions League could be missed out on.

  1. Finishing 5th is like a scudetto for the Allegri-fanatics after finishing 8th last season. 🤷‍♂️

They’ll jump in soon enough to say how well we did last year and how perfect everything now is.
