AC Milan returned to their old self on Sunday with a 2-1 defeat against Fiorentina, bringing questions about Paulo Fonseca back to the limelight. Unlike the last time his future was questioned though, there is radio silence from the club.
Since that defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League, things have been much better for Milan. A derby win followed by a convincing victory against Lecce and positives could even be taken from the game against Bayer Leverkusen, even if the result was far from optimal.
This spell – which it looks growingly likely that it was just that – looks to have ended against Fiorentina, and questions are once again flying around the Rossoneri about several things. Is Fonseca the right man to lead? Are the players right to play the system? Do the players need to take greater responsibility?
As Tuttosport (via Milan News) writes this morning, the questions are simply being resuscitated. This is not the first time that they will be asked, and it is probably not going to be the last. Comparing this round of questions to previous times though, there is radio silence from the management about Fonseca’s position.
Fan discontent is rising once again, and the management are ‘struggling to find credibility’ in a decision which they made against the fans’ wishes in the summer. Once again, Fonseca is seemingly under pressure, and the following matches could be decisive – in other words, we could already be revisiting the Pioli cycle.
fans are idi0ts. if they had thier way he’d be jumping from coach 2 coach each month and selling players with it..
discontent because real milan is unable to replicate thier fifa manager milan wins and trophies.
Discontent because they set up way 2 high goals for the club in their head and whine when they players are not reaching them. Like they havent been watching Milan games for the last 2 years
I swear I had a friend who wanted Fonseca, Emerson and Pavlovic out since the Torino draw. And he is not a teen…
does his fifa manger Milan win a lot?
Didn’t bother asking, my brain was bugged from what he said. But strangely enough he did like Yunus Musah.
So it looks like the pressure to say no on lopetegui and the discontent with fonseca’s name and the understanding of needing a winning coach with a strong mentality were not without merit. This is what I can’t understand with this ownership. It’s the constant gamble of something may or may not work out but it’s half the price. Why don’t we just go medium to long term with higher buy in costs for a nailed on chance of success. We’ve gone from winning the league, to decimating that team when we should have been strong arming in, flooded it with 20m players instead of enhancing it with a few bits of quality and now looking like it needs a complete overhaul by likely getting rid of 2 of our biggest assets in Theo and Leao who I think are probably just as fed up as us that they have watched the same thing happen. Obviously neither have that winning mentality, fight to the end, do or die spirit but I understand why they’d be f@cked off to. After all, cardinals not expected to go stand under the curva everytime we flop. I think the banter era is upon us again. Next week will be doing the haka again but maybe this time with cheerleaders and a marching band. I feel like we will be run in to the ground
The fans know more than this idiotic management. Lopetegui by the way has the same exact record this season as Fonseca. He loss the same amount of games and so far our season is identical to West Ham.
No surprises there as the fans didn’t want either coach to lead Milan. What amazes me is how this management chose these 2 candidates to coach Milan when they are more better coaches available this summer compared to any other season.
That’s a clear indication of a lack of ambition and incompetence.
Lack of ambition ≠ as being idiòts.
The management has their goals. I’m assuming sustainability is their goal. Play it safe, win money, rinse repeat.
The fans know jack shít how a club is run. They think they know but in reality they couldn’t win from a sim of running a football club let alone a real club..a giant of the game.
Well fans might not know how to handle accountability or negotiations for collabs, you need professional training as any other job, but they know that hiring Paulo Fonseca or recruiting Emerson Royal were big mistakes and that chasing for sustainability never won any trophy. But we agree that the ownership has its own agenda and that it’s not the same as (most of) the fans.
Had the management focused on renewing to younger existing players and get few high quality players instead of a bunch of average ones, and hiring a coach with a better resume, they could have elevated the rankings of the club while spending the same amount of money or even less than what they did right now.
The three in the first photo should be the first to go…wanabees
