Tuttosport: Silence surrounds Fonseca as summer doubts begin to manifest

AC Milan returned to their old self on Sunday with a 2-1 defeat against Fiorentina, bringing questions about Paulo Fonseca back to the limelight. Unlike the last time his future was questioned though, there is radio silence from the club.

Since that defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League, things have been much better for Milan. A derby win followed by a convincing victory against Lecce and positives could even be taken from the game against Bayer Leverkusen, even if the result was far from optimal.

This spell – which it looks growingly likely that it was just that – looks to have ended against Fiorentina, and questions are once again flying around the Rossoneri about several things. Is Fonseca the right man to lead? Are the players right to play the system? Do the players need to take greater responsibility?

As Tuttosport (via Milan News) writes this morning, the questions are simply being resuscitated. This is not the first time that they will be asked, and it is probably not going to be the last. Comparing this round of questions to previous times though, there is radio silence from the management about Fonseca’s position.

Fan discontent is rising once again, and the management are ‘struggling to find credibility’ in a decision which they made against the fans’ wishes in the summer. Once again, Fonseca is seemingly under pressure, and the following matches could be decisive – in other words, we could already be revisiting the Pioli cycle.
