The future of AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli beyond the end of the current season remains unknown but there are a couple of interesting hypotheses, a report claims.
This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) reports that Pioli will have to meet Giorgio Furlani – as well as perhaps Zlatan Ibrahimović and Geoffrey Moncada – any time from today to Wednesday to speak about his Milan farewell.
The idea is that the club will officially communicate his departure before the Salernitana game at the weekend, so that the fans can pay tribute to a coach who brought the Scudetto back to Milan after 11 years and a Champions League semi-final after 16.
It is likely that there will be a mutual termination of his contract with severance pay for Pioli and his staff, but there does not seem to be any plans for him to take a break after leaving the Rossoneri.
Where could he go? The newspaper believes there are two ‘hot’ options for the Emilian coach at the moment. One of them is Napoli, given that his agent has already had contact with Aurelio De Laurentiis.
However, Napoli are also thinking about ‘poaching’ Gian Piero Gasperini from Atalanta. If this were to happen, the door could open for Pioli to take over just up the road from San Siro with La Dea.
