Tuttosport: Talks ongoing over Ibrahimovic return – the role he could take

By Oliver Fisher -

There continues to be speculation swirling about the potential return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to AC Milan in a role yet to be determined.

As Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) report, yesterday Gerry Cardinale gave an interview to Class CNBC and he talked about the possibility of seeing Ibrahimović back at Milan following his retirement from football in June.

“Zlatan is a legend, a born leader. We need similar people around us. We have a team young and I believe that someone like Ibra could be effective as an advisor for me and as a guiding spirit for the whole team. It depends on him, but we are discussing and I like him a lot,” he said.

The paper focuses on Zlatan’s possible role in the event of a possible third spell with the Rossoneri. After various talks with Stefano Pioli, Giorgio Furlani, Cardinale and Paolo Scaroni, nobody seems to know the position that he might take up.

The idea, however, would be to make him club manager, a figure in close contact with the team and management, although the Milan owner would like him to be even more integrated into the environment.

He could perhaps work closely with Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio, but it remains to be seen whether the Swede will accept being ‘caged’ into a specific role. In the meantime, Ibra continues to do media rounds and enjoy some rest, so news could arrive at the beginning of 2024.
