Tuttosport: Thiaw gets another opportunity after difficult night in Monza

By Oliver Fisher -

It would be fair to say that Malick Thiaw’s return to league action didn’t go according to plan during the defeat to Monza last weekend, but he will get another big chance tonight.

As this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) writes, Pierre Kalulu is back in the squad while Fikayo Tomori will return for Lazio-Milan on Friday night, which means that the centre-back department is looking a lot healthier.

There are two doubts about the team that will face Atalanta tonight. The first is on the right in defence, where Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi are battling for a starting spot, and then in midfield with Yacine Adli and Tijjani Reijnders vying for a spot.

The paper adds that Malick Thiaw should take the spot of Simon Kjær in the heart of the defence, playing alongside Matteo Gabbia, and the hope is that he does better than last weekend.

The German made his first start in 82 days after coming back from a muscle problem and he gave away a penalty with which Monza made it 1-0, then he was beaten by Colpani for the second goal, making it a bit of a nightmare return for him in truth.

Tonight. a dangerous test awaits given that Atalanta are on a great run of form and players like Charles De Ketelaere are experiencing a very positive moment.

  1. Pretty awesome that generally accepted our best (fit) CB currently is a youth product , Gabbia. Hope I haven’t jinxed him for tonight’s match vs Atalanta!

Hoping Thiaw finds some form we need to be rock solid at the back, no silly mistakes against a dangerous attacking side

    Forza Milan
