Tuttosport: Torino captain ready for next step – Milan and Inter eyeing €30m coup

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessandro Buongiorno feels ready to take the next step in his career and the idea of joining AC Milan tempts him, according to a report.

Milan were heavily linked with a move for Buongiorno during the January transfer window as they looked for a reinforcement to help their injury crisis, but he was taken off the market by Torino president Urbano Cairo.

The links have continued since then, and Buongiorno recently admitted that he idolises two Milan legends which has certainly fuelled the speculation that a move could be on the cards.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanPress), the Italy international had opted to stay at Torino last summer despite Atalanta’s advances. In the winter he was tempted by Milan , but nothing came of it.

Now Buongiorno feels ready for the big step: he wants the biggest stages, which means he wants the Champions League. For this reason he is also ready to say goodbye to Torin , the team of his heart.

He would willingly stay in Turin, where he has a contract until June 2028, but the paper claims that he has given a mandate to his agent, Giuseppe Riso, to listen to offers from top Italian and foreign clubs.

Inter are in pole position but Milan are also in the race, while Juventus can be excluded as a team to which the defender has no intention of going to of respect for the Granata.

Cairo and Vagnati’s request has not changed: they want €40m to sell. In Italy, given the different financial resources compared to the Premier League, the figure could fluctuate around €30m.

  1. Actual outcome:

Inter signs Buongiorno, Torino captain, a ready Serie A and Italy NT player, while we sign one of Brassier/Lacroix/Adarabioyo. Actually an average 10 million cheaper alternative foreigner who’ll need half a season for adaptation. And then we’ll wonder how come we still cannot top Inter.

    1. Thiaw cannot be trusted, Kalulu cannot stay fit, Kjaer won’t be renewed, Simic “isn’t ready”, Pellegrino will be loaned out and Pioli hates Gabbia. So, yeah. We need a new CB. Maybe two.

  2. Part ex with one or both Kalulu and pellegrino and pay the difference

    Calabria/florenzi
    Buongiorno/simic
    Gabbia/tomori
    Theo/terraciano

    Pretty solid defence for 24/25

Even better, sell Tomori and buy Scalvini….perfect

In the real world we will have a bunch of cheap foreigners from ligue 1

  3. I would argue that amidst PL Interest, Cairo would actually jack the price up past 40mil. Is Buongiorno worth it now? No. Will he be, down the line? Probably yes. But this is why Moncada shops abroad.

Hopefully we can throw Pobega into the mix and bring the price down.

  4. Offer 20m euro + Colombo or Pobega maybe make Torino interesting . He is good defender and future italian CB , stop buying raw defender like thiaw, pelegrino or other future target like anselmino
