Tuttosport: Two advantages Milan have over Inter in Jonathan David race

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have an advantage over Inter in the battle that is set to take place for Jonathan David next summer, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via Radio Rossonera), in the transfer duel for David that is expected to happen in view of summer 2024, the Rossoneri have an advantage over their city rivals.

The reason? Milan have an excellent relationship with Lille, as demonstrated by the talks held to resolve the issue linked to Rafael Leao’s fine which slowed down the negotiations for his renewal.

This preferential lane could be used by Milan to try to get ahead of the competition that will undoubtedly be there, perhaps even attempting to obtain a ‘favourable’ price.

Meanwhile, the other point of advantage is that Inter have a dire financial situation with huge debts and would have to make big sale in order to get close to the requested figures.

The Nerazzurri’s balance sheet is a constant ‘Sword of Damocles’ (meaning an imminent doom) hanging over their transfer ambitions and next year will be no different from previous ones.

      1. Inter’s stadium will hit them much harder than ACM. Inter was prefer to share the stadium, and Milan always find for themself. That’s why Milan pick the most preferred Stadium Concept (The Catedral) and much faster to buy the land at the better place : San Donato.

Inter will find the cheapest option, for their long-term investment. That will be their first step to losing to Milan over years.

  1. There is no market derby on david who is already well over both club’s range and will likely go to 80+ this year unless he flops. Milan went crazy over a 35m deal so a 60+ deal is unrealistic. I could see Inter making this signing in 2019 but now their cap is probably 45-50m at best.

  2. What a stupid article. Lille will sell to the highest bidder and Inter pay higher salaries. Despite their financial problems, they will probably cash in on Barella or Lautaro next season.

  3. Yes Jonathan David is a very good striker, but Pioli like to use Target-man for his tactic. Not active striker, for the lone striker.
Because 4 ACM’s players behind the lone striker already very fluid (2 wingers & 2 mezzali), with additional 2 Marauding Wing-Backs. The lone striker need more firm for flick-on the one-twos, and give visual dangers & aerial challenges.
