Our podcast regular, Ahmed Bdair, has ranted about the issues that have led to Rafael Leao potentially leaving AC Milan this summer, with particular criticism for the management.
It has been a tough season for Leao so far, struggling to find consistency in a new attacking role, and rumours have suggested that he could leave Milan this summer. Indeed, the relationship with the fans appears to be at wits’ end.
We wrote about Leao’s value on the accounts in our most recent Substack long read, highlighting that Milan don’t need much to make a decent profit on the player. However, considering the high hopes they had for him, the treatment can definitely be criticised.
Worst possible treatment
In the latest podcast episode, the lads discussed Leao’s thorny situation and whether he should leave the club or not. Bdair stated that it’s bound to happen, as we have seen it with most stars that have brought the Rossoneri any type of success.
“It’s simple, right? There have only been a handful of players who have been associated with Milan’s only success in the last 15 years, and we have systematically got rid of them. One by one, and the fan base has cheered it on.
“The same way everybody turned on Theo! If I told you when we won the Scudetto that two years later, everybody would want Theo out, would you have believed it? It wouldn’t have even entered my mind, but this is what it is in today’s game.
“The fans will eat up anything in the media. They kicked out Theo and they are going to kick out Leao. When he leaves, you’re not going to see a player like Leao for a very long time at this club, and I’m curious to see what the same people will say then.
“The idea that we are going to get €80-100m is crazy, you have to be out of your mind to think we are getting that. They have nonstop devalued the product, playing him out of position, playing him injured, and turning the fans against him.
“It’s the ultimate devaluing of the best asset you have. Even if you take the emotion out of it, Milan have still done an awful job of managing the asset. He will leave and with him, other than Mike, goes the last player to bring us true success,” he stated.

Because 80% of the planet are halfwits, so, 80% of Milan base are halfwits. You can see from the completely false stories that keep repeating. My favourite recentone is that “strikers don’t work well under Allegri” with 0 evidence for and as much as you want against. But you can’t convince a halfwit otherwise as he is too thick to allow anything intelligent into its (yes, its) brain.
Tnx Leao i like it but time you go and take new chalenge.Better now when we can some cash on you.
We not need new donaruma, kessie etc lose you for nothing. Truth is you not play good last 2 year, you not happy here anymore and we not happy with you anymore, so best solution for both is selling you.
THANK YOU FOR ALL BUT ITS TIME FOR SELL
I would sell everyone that is happy playing in a team that finishes 8th and changes managers every season. If you are happy you don’t care about winning.
You weren’t around for the late 90’s were you, 96/97 – 11th, 97/98 – 10th, and we had an incredible squad with Marco Simone leading the scoring in 97, and Weah with a paltry 10 goals in 98. We had to revamp after 98, in order to achieve the title in 98/99, we had to sell Savicevic, Desailly, Jens Lehmann, Patrick Kluivert, Roberto Baggio, Marco Simone, Vierchowod, Reiziger, Dugarry, Eranio, Blomqvist, Edgar Davids, Patrick Vieira, Paolo Di Canio, Paulo Futre, Gianluigi Lentini, and Cristian Panucci. We had to have a revamp and create a new core because what we had wasn’t working.
I was. Why do you incorrectly assume I wasn’t and open with that? It won’t help your completely wrong comparison. And how many times did Milan “revamp” since Scudetto? How many of those players are still in the team? What you wrote is nonsense and the reason is simple. Milan buys and sells almost 10 players per season…if we look at the players you mentioned almost every single one was finished and didn’t have a single good season after they left Milan. Completely wrong comparison.
I have to agree. There’s too much turnover at Milan without any actual sporting plan or sense of continuity. Hard to persuade any respectable footballer to give it their all every season if you’re constantly “revamping” the squad…
No sporting plan or ambition, no competence and it all starts up top.
And there were more than a few mistakes selling young players from this list. Anyway, Milan is doing this every 2 seasons. Whole team sold and bought. ?

Anyone here who’s against Leao this season is either a baby fan or watching Milan matches with any brain. Has anyone noticed since Allegri took over the great moment from the left wing has disappeared? Why is Allegri playing Leao as a centre striker? Since Leao came to Milan has he ever played as a centre striker before or even in his national team?
Why are you guys always revising at a round about drive way. What’s so special about Allegri that you guys are scared to say the truth here. Does anyone of you here knows Milan more or football more than Shevecenko? Even He as a top striker told Allegri that Leao is not a central striker yet in the next match against Udinese he still used him there. I have never seen any Milan stubborn coach as Allegri since 1985 I started supporting Milan
I meant to say watching without brain
These baby Milan fans won’t see it…I told them ..I never liked Allegri..he has no clue of even the negative 3-5-2 formation he has imposed on these players …he plays them all out of their natural position and expect good results…
It’s actually Allegri that should be sacked not Leao !!
“The same way everybody turned on Theo! If I told you when we won the Scudetto that two years later, everybody would want Theo out, would you have believed it? It wouldn’t have even entered my mind, but this is what it is in today’s game.”
LOL. And Theo’s performance and behavior had NOTHING to do with it? It was just the fans turned against him for no reason, right? Fng m0ron.🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Allegri has destroyed Milan…a coach who is not playing any international games except serie A should have won the scudetto…this clown coach just devalued all our players by playing them out of position with his negative style of coaching !!
Sack Allegri please 🙏
