Longo: ‘Unequivocal signals’ – what Bennacer’s change of agent means for his Milan future

By Oliver Fisher -

Some positive updates have emerged regarding the future of Ismael Bennacer and what his change of agent means for his potential renewal with AC Milan.

It is now well known that Milan have been in discussions with the entourage of the Algerian over the extension of his current contract, which is set to expire in June 2024, but earlier today news arrived regarding a ‘sensational twist’ in proceedings.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com has now given an interview to Radio Rossonera in which he offered further updates on Bennacer’s future, stating that ‘there are no clear-cut and unequivocal signals’ at the moment.

However, one thing has emerged and that is ‘the will on the part of the player to renew with Milan under the right conditions’. After leaving his old agent Moussa Sissoko a month and a half ago, he ‘met Maldini and Massara several times privately’ representing himself.

In the last meeting between the parties he ‘informed Milan that from today the interlocutor for his renewal must be Enzo Raiola’ and the current process involves finalising the last bureaucratic details relating to the exclusivity of power of attorney.

In the next few weeks ‘there will be a meeting with Enzo Raiola’ but at the moment it seems the change in agent is not a ‘negative turn’ but rather has a ‘positive meaning’.

Moreover, Milan ‘still have optimism for the successful outcome of the negotiation’ and ‘unequivocal signals’ have arrived from Bennacer, so the percentages of reaching an agreement are higher than him leaving.

There is a ‘substantial difference’ between his situation and that of Rafael Leao as the winger has ‘more temptations right now’. It must also be said that the figure closest to Enzo Raiola is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, so he could have some advice to give.

  1. So basically further postponement of negotiations .
Seems a lot like the Gigio, Hakan, Kessie & Romagnoli cases. That’s all we were hearing, Milan feels confident, positive signals, both parties want a deal done, agreement is close , and then we saw those players leave without a cent in return for the club.
This management hasn’t proven that they can solve these situations in favor of the club, so I expect him to leave for free until Maldini and Co can prove they’ve learned from their amateur mistakes in the past 24 months .
I sincerely hope they prove me wrong

  2. This is the renewal that worries me… Before the season started I have been constantly mentioning this renewal must happen for various reasons. And look where we are now!?
I was not to concerned for Leao as we can’t afford him. Bennacer leaving will be a serious blow. Redbird better start being owners!!

  3. And Milan should fired the amateur Maldini-Masara then replaced them with 20&8 since he know more how to do negotiations as technical director than Maldini-Masara.

    1. 😂 did IT hurt your feelings that someone was criticizing your idol?
Maldini has no previous experience as any kind of director or manager of a sports club, and there are facts that prove that he isn’t good when it comes to negotiations or sales.
Maldini should be moved to a different position, and Milan should hire an experienced sporting director. Me pointing out obvious shortcomings and mistakes doesn’t mean that I can do his job, but there are many
      capable directors that could.
Maldini has a public job, and he will becriticized, just like you have no problem criticizing certain Milan players, I can also criticize Maldini . Should Milan bench those players you criticize and hire you ,the emotional @ForzaMilan to play instead of them?
This is platform for fans to vent and state their opinions about the state of the club. That’s what a fan does. But the fanboys like you ,not the actual fans, always have an issue when someone criticize their idols

      1. No you don’t hurt my feelings at all. But you clearly looks super butthurt from your post 😂

You’re free to rant and scream in here. No one stop you. But ranting without a proper knowledge only makes you looks like a complete fool.

And since you looks smart and confident with your post, i only gave you a fair suggestion to send your CV to Milan boards. Maybe you can do a better job and teach the amateur Maldini-Masara a lesson on how not to make “amateur mistakes”. Proof your words that you’re as smart and experiences as your post boi 😁

  4. Milan should have acted fast while Benny was without an agent. Based on the surname alone I bet his new agent will be demanding multiple millions to allow his new “client” (eh, employee…) to sign anything.

    1. ACT how fast? Except Milan try Mafia tactics – which they wont, a contract is only sealed when the player signs on the dotted lines? how is bannacer not signing or negotiating an increase maldini’s fault?

if Milan makes an offer, you dont like it, say so and if you want to stay, make a counter offer. thats what willing negotiation is all about. both parties shifting ground a little. but if one party wants to leave and is wasting time, he will stall and say he is still thinking about your offer. meanwhile he is just buying time.
i do not believe all these stories about anyone willing to sign a contract but not actually signing one. be plain and make your intentions known.
kessie did not, neither did donnarumma, hakan or romagnoli.
if he goes, Milan will continue with or without him. Sheva, kaka and pirlo were all better players, they left and we still won a trophy last year. we will survive
