‘We are unplayable’ – Inter trio Sommer, Mkhitaryan and Lautaro eye derby revenge

After the result against Dinamo Zagreb, AC Milan will inevitably feel quite low. However, they do not have time to lick their wounds as Inter await them.

With the loss in Croatia last night, everything has gone a bit pear-shaped for Milan, if it was not already. Financially, the club has taken a hit, which was probably not expected, and they also have taken a calendar hit, with two more games awaiting them in Europe.

As a result, many of the players stated that they were frustrated with the performance, but there is little time to recoup, which they would probably be wishing for at the moment. Instead, they must get up and go again as they face the Nerazzurri this weekend.

The game comes at a time when Simone Inzaghi’s side are likely full of confidence after their Champions League result, and the Diavolo are probably the opposite.

After the game at San Siro last night, several Inter players spoke to the media, and their confidence was exuding. Starting with the words of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, via Milan Press.

“Now we have our heads on the derby, every game is very important to us, and we are doing our best to stay as close as possible to Napoli. There will be time to think about who we will play against. We don’t care so much [about thinking ahead], because we are Inter and if we play our game we are unplayable, that’s my thoughts.”

Lautaro Martinez also spoke to the media and Milan Press have relayed his words.

“We are fighting for all competitions. But now we have to think about the derby, in the championship, we can’t lose more points. It’s a fundamental commitment and now we need to recover well: we know what happened in Riyadh but for us, it’s not revenge, all derbies are different and special.

“Today, we celebrate, and then we think about the derby which is very important for our path to the championship.”

Finally, Milan Press also relayed the words of Yann Sommer.

“When we play like this [the UCL win last night] we are energetic. The next game is very important for us and the city, for the group. We will prepare him very well: we want to redeem ourselves, we have time to recover after this great game.”

  1. Inter in the form of their life after resting their best players. Milan is shambolic, morale is down, and players are injured. Don’t be surprised we lose by more than 3 goals on Sunday

  2. So for all OnlyMilanFans, if you wanna change your fave team. It’s now the rite time, like the so called Inter Fan (if you see this forum) to change or not (Sempre Inter di Merda or Sempre Milan)…

  3. I know it sounds weird to everyone but Milan will destroy them. This is one of 8 games in season that Reijnders actually tries hard. Leao as well. Theo has Dumfries against him, so automatically he plays better. Also, if losing against a Croatian team doesn’t get you thinking and trying harder, nothing will.

  4. Assuming Walker will play then this will be the leadership which is urgently needed which currently lacks when players take to the pitch.
i would also like to see a couple kids thrown into the theatre of combat.

  5. I’m on sense would have you believe Inter smokes us Sunday. They are riding on a high and we are down in the gutter with poor morale.

    BUT

They may be a bit overconfident and we may need a jolt. If they impose and press us we may be able to defend the counter and catch them out. Their back line is slow.

If they give us the possession and allow us to press then we will get shredded in transition and they will massacre us.

I hope Conceicao prepares properly for this. But then again, if the players don’t execute what he prepares …

    1. Brother you know how it goes, I have belief that we will either get a draw, lose close or win. But they aren’t blowing us out. There is no chance of that happening. The boys step up, and that’s the type of talk I hate. The boys stepped up, because if you wear the badge of the Milano, the 2nd most successful side in Europe that should be your level every game.

      1. Sempre Milan..hope that miracle happens and somebody take over the club from Cardinale and change all the director and advisor. For me this season has ended. Let’s hope there will be a reset from this condition. Find director who has rosonerri blood.

    2. Already beat them two times this season. I believe they can make it a third but Leao needs to show up and hopefully Walker can make an impact.

    3. Fatigue will be a factor. Both teams played on Wednesday, but Inter clearly had the easier time in their fixture. Milan expended all their energy in a losing effort.
Not only will morale be low, but they will also have next to nothing in the tank for Sunday.

But let’s see. I don’t think Theo or Leao really tired themselves out in Zagreb, they may have been saving their energy for the Inter match.
