In a complicated season and with the change of coach from Paulo Fonseca to Sergio Conceiçao, one of the few positive news for Milan is the growth of Alex Jimenez,
As Calciomercato.com recall, Jimenez started the season with Milan Futuro but is now a permanent fixture in the first team. His debut in Serie A came a year ago with Stefano Pioli in the dugout, as he came on to replace the injured Alessando Florenzi shortly after the half hour in the away match at Empoli.
At present Jimenez at Milan has the role of deputy to Theo Hernandez but has also been deployed as a winger in the 4-2-3-1 system. The player is appreciated by everyone but there is also Real Madrid who are monitoring his performance remotely.
In the summer, Milan bought Alex from them for €5m, but the Spaniards have retained a double buy-back clause: in the summer of 2025, Real can bring him back for €9m, while the following year the figure is set at €12m.
In the last January transfer window, Adriano Galliani had asked Milan for Jimenez on loan to strengthen the Monza squad that is fighting not to be relegated. However, the Rossoneri put up a wall.
The will was to keep him in the team to give him playing time and make him grow further by monitoring him closely, enhancing his qualities while waiting to understand what his future will be in the summer.
This boy should be keeped, he’s a good player.
I would say keep him as well but, keep him as a winger. He’s not very good at defending to justify him being a rb.
A few mistakes / poor form recently plus Real signing TAA probably helps us. I definitely see him staying another year they won’t trigger his clause with Mendy , TAA , Carvajal and even Valverde/Camavinga able to cover at full back.
So the 9mn deadline will expire. If they take him back the following summer for 12mn it’ll be a shame but also will mean he’s had a very good 2025/26 campaign for us.
anger management, and he’s ready to be a star.
