Venezia struggled big time against AC Milan on Saturday evening, conceding four times in the first 29 minutes, and Eusebio Di Francesco didn’t hold back in his post-match interview. As many could see, they gave a lot away to the Rossoneri.
With less than two minutes on the clock, Theo Hernandez intercepted a poor Venezia pass and combined with Rafael Leao for the first goal. Although the Frenchman’s shot perhaps was a bit surprising, the goalkeeper didn’t do anywhere near good enough to stop the ball.
In his post-match interview with Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Venezia manager Di Francesco was asked about what went wrong for his side. He was brutally honest in his assessment, stating that his players helped Milan score the goals.
“We were naive in several situations, we helped concede the goals ourselves. The second goal cut our legs off, there are no excuses. We gave the impression of great fragility, the team also tried to play but when you suffer so easily and we also help them, it becomes tough.
“When your head is no longer there you have to have the strength to stay in the game. Maybe I have doubts about the first penalty, but it’s not an excuse that can justify the final result,” he stated.
Having clinched just one point in the first four games, it looks like it will be a very difficult season for Venezia. Many predicted them to go straight back down before the season started and it does indeed look like that will be the outcome.
I think the former inter player 21 year old Gaetano Oristanio did pretty well considering what he had to work with and seems like a talented player even if Venezia didn’t show much yesterday.
Venezia kinda shoot themselves in the foot with di franseco. Gotta acknowledge they got to serie a with Vanoli ( good coach now working at torino). Before him venezia was pretty unstable.
