Verona manager respects referee assigned to Milan clash but adds: “He’s a bit sensitive”

Daniele Doveri will officiate the game between AC Milan and Hellas Verona this evening.  Given that the Rossoneri are in the Scudetto race, eyes will also be on the referee as mistakes can prove decisive.

Milan have had their fair share of bad luck with the referees already this season and more controversy would certainly be a big problem for AIA (Italian Referees Association). Doveri was assigned to this game because of his experience, which hopefully will do the job.

During his pre-match press conference, Hellas Verona manager Igor Tudor was asked about Doveri and the fact that he will officiate the game. He made it clear that he respects the referee but named one potential flaw.

“I respect him, he has quality, although for my taste he is a bit sensitive. The red for Ceccherini against Napoli was exaggerated, he got the second yellow sixty metres from the goal, which for me was not right. I hope there won’t be any talk about him after the game,” he said (via MilanNews).

The game is scheduled for 20:45 CEST and if you cannot watch the game, you can always follow along with our live updates on Twitter during the game. Hopefully, Milan will come away with all three points.
