Verona president on Zaccagni amid Milan links: “He’s worthy of a champions team”

By Isak Möller -

Hakan Calhanoglu has officially joined Inter, refusing the renewal offer, and Milan are now looking for a new playmaker on the market. Mattia Zaccagni has been mentioned lately and it seems he could leave Hellas Verona.

Just a few days ago, Corriere di Verona (via MilanNews) reported that the Rossoneri are pushing hard for the signing of Zaccagni. The player has said yes to the move and Verona have slapped a €15m price tag on him.

In an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanLive, the president of Verona spoke about the situation. He made it clear that they don’t have to sell the player, but will evaluate any good offers that may arrive this summer.

“The boy is fine with us, we don’t have to sell him. If an adequate request arrives, we will evaluate it because Mattia is worthy of a Champions team,” Maurizio Setti said.

Zaccagni scored five goals and assisted an additional seven this past season, showing that he can get good numbers even for an average team. We will just have to wait and see if the Milan interest is really concrete.
