Hellas Verona coach Paolo Sammarco has recalled his past with AC Milan, claiming the club was ‘different’ when he was there.
Milan will be visiting the Stadio MarcAntonio Bentegodi this afternoon, where they will face a Verona side that are level with Pisa at the bottom of the Serie A standings. It has not been a good campaign for the Gialloblu, who are nine points from safety with six games to go.

It is a big game for Massimiliano Allegri’s side too. Given how results went in the past 24 hours, the opportunity has presented itself to open up an eight-point cushion over fifth place once again, which would certainly be a big boost for the top four hopes.
Having sacked Paolo Zanetti in early February, Verona are now coached by former Milan youth team player Sammarco. He spoke at a press conference on Saturday to discuss the match against the Rossoneri, with one excerpt relayed by MilanNews.

“Some time has passed, I went through all the youth teams and then joined the Primavera. It was a different Milan, with icons like Maldini, Costacurta, and Albertini, players I was lucky enough to see.
“Just one look from them was enough to understand where I needed to go. It’s an experience I’ll always carry with me.”
What kind of Milan will Verona face now?
“A Milan with great quality, we saw how the last two went, as well as being angry, they will therefore show quality on the pitch, but we want to respond blow for blow.”
And what kind of Verona will Milan find?
“A Verona that is undoubtedly hurt, but we believe that, especially in the last two games, we needed and wanted to pick up points. Regardless of motivation, it’s a game against a great team, and that should give the players an extra boost.”
