Verónica Boquete appears to be moving closer to joining the AC Milan Women, as during an interview with Spanish site El Patio she gave a major hint about her next destination.
Her next destination will be in Europe: “[…] Especially after this year, where we have already lost many months of being able to compete, I don’t want to go without playing. So no matter what, this season I’ll be going to back to Europe. Where, we’ll see soon.”
This confirms earlier reports that she has left the Utah Royals, though it must be noted that the video was recorded on October 28th and though Utah offered her a new contract on October 30th, Boquete has yet to sign a renewal with them.
At around the 17:00 minute mark, Veró also states that she would like to join a team that will “fight for titles” and “qualify for the Champions League”. She also spoke of wanting to be a part of an “ambitious project”.
Currently, there is only one team that is capable of helping her do this, and that is AC Milan. The rest of the teams that Boquete is supposedly linked to are not in similar positions, chief among them being Real Madrid. They are currently seventh in La Liga Iberdrola.
Milan, on the other hand, are third in Serie A Femminile. The team stands a good chance of making the Champions League, and if they sign Boquete, then they will most certainly qualify for next season’s competition.
The Spaniard is said to currently be in Milan undergoing quarantine. Once her quarantine period finishes, then her move to Milan will be made official.
.@VeroBoquete: “Esta temporada volveré a Europa sí o sí. Pronto sabremos dónde, pero será cerca”.
