AC Milan and Juventus have been alerted by the murmurs that Marco Verratti wants to return to playing in Serie A, but an operation would be very difficult.
Calciomercato.it‘s report begins by citing journalist Stefano Benzi who spoke on CMIT TV and revealed that Verratti wants to come back to Italy at some point: “They tell me that Verratti would return to play in Italy tomorrow morning.”
PSG are expected to have an overhaul in the summer but it seems unlikely that they would want to sell Verratti, who is regarded by many to be their best midfielder. The salary of €9m net per season that he currently earns seems tough for either Milan or Juventus to pay, too.
Under Investcorp the Rossoneri could decide to push the boat out a bit more in terms of salaries but it would certainly disrupt the balance given that Theo Hernandez – who recently renewed – earns basically half of that.
To move to Italy, he should therefore decide to lower his salary and at €7m per year it could become more of a feasible operation, though given his current contract expires in June 2024 an asking price of €50m seems a minimum.
