Emerson Royal will be the third signing of the summer for AC Milan as the latter reached an agreement with Tottenham a few days ago. However, as a report claims, his arrival in Milano has been delayed slightly.
The Brazilian full-back will cost the Rossoneri €15m plus an additional €2m in bonuses, with a four-year deal (with an option for one more year) ready. Although it’s a signing that doesn’t excite the fanbase that much, Milan did get a good deal.
According to Anto Vitiello, Emerson Royal’s arrival – which was always scheduled for tomorrow – has been delayed slightly as he’s now expected to land around 21:45 instead of 20:30. It’s a minor change that won’t make much of a difference, other than keeping the journalists up late.
The medical tests will take place on Monday and he will then sign his contract in the afternoon. It remains to be seen when he will start training with the squad, but it’s almost 100% certain that he won’t start in the game against Torino.
As the captain of the team, Davide Calabria will be keen on keeping his starting spot on the right-hand side and this should make for an interesting battle. Of course, Paulo Fonseca could decide to alternate them depending on the opponents.
Most Spurs fans will wish Emerson well, I do because he gave his all when selected. Emerson going might give Spence a chance – he’s not had an opportunity to impress yet.
