If AC Milan do not appoint a ‘top coach’ this summer, then they will repeat the 2024/25 season, a journalist has claimed.
The idea of that should be enough for Milan to consider moving away from this model of hires. However, it seems very possible that the Rossoneri approach this summer with the hopes of a low-budget gem coach, rather than paying for quality.

There have been many comparisons between the club and Napoli already, so let’s make another. With a top coach this season, namely Antonio Conte, the Partenopei massively overachieved and won the Scudetto, something which the Diavolo are striving for.
However, with a ‘lower’ coach, the chances of this are reduced considerably. Ultimately, this is why the club struggled this season. So, in a piece for Milan News, Antonio Vitiello has urged Milan to make a top-class hire, rather than settling again, if they do not, a repeat beckons.
“The crucial choice concerns the coach. A move would be needed to inflame the square and give new energy to the fans. A move like Antonio Conte would be needed.
“A suggestion, if possible. Rather, take one less player on the market but raise the salary of the next coach. With a salary of 7-8 million, you could try to bring Conte or Allegri to Milan, but if the maximum ceiling on coaches remains 3 million, then they will all be at the same level as Fonseca and Conceiçao.
“The name that is starting to circulate in the corridors of Casa Milan is that of Thiago Motta. By exclusion, if Milan were to lose Italiano, Conte, Allegri and De Zerbi, there would be few other solutions. The former Juventus coach would gladly accept.
“To relaunch Milan, a top coach would be needed, a sure name. And if he were not to arrive, the same mistake as last season would be made.”

last year we lose Conte because of Salary cap, and to avoid invest 7-8 mio in him. Then we lost 70-80 million for not playing in UCL. What a smart decision form person who doesn’t know football after all.
You would think a banker would know “wasting” 7-8M€ more in order to save/gain 70-80M€ next season makes total sense but no… So sad.
Milan are penny wise and pound foolish. The arrogance of thinking they could just hire anybody to coach and pay them $2 mil to get top 4 ended up costing them $100 mil by missing out.

They have the CL. They have a clearly better squad. They have a special bond with Antonio.

Conte took Napoli when they weren’t in the Champions League. If management has serious goals for the club, then I’m sure securing Conte’s signature won’t be an issue. Salary caps have clearly proven to be a barrier, yet there’s no indication that management intends to address the issue.
You cannot get Conte. He is still under contract with napoli, you need to pay napoli compensation and that will cost more than 10m euro. Remember napoli get conte after he is free agent
Conte would not have won the scudetto or done anything in Europe. He can win the league when he only has one game a week. He complains and forces out stars. Napoli may have won the scudetto, but the chance of them doing anything when they have UCL football and no Krava and no Osimhen is slim.
