Footmercato: Vlahovic aware crucial decision awaits as Milan pitch project – the competition

Dusan Vlahovic is heading towards a free transfer in the summer, but his destination remains a mystery at this point.

Footmercato report that Vlahović was no longer certain about continuing his adventure with Juventus even last year.At the end of August, the striker’s situation had taken a ‘major turn’, with Milan in particular interested in signing him.

A new meeting had taken place between Milan’s directors and Vlahović’s representatives, with discussions deemed very positive by both parties. Seduced by the project put forward, the Serbian international was even willing to lower his salary demands to €8m net per year.

Massimiliano Allegri, then Juventus’s coach, was actively pushing for the transfer internally and had made numerous calls to the player. Juventus were willing to arrange a departure under the best possible conditions, but Vlahovic was demanding a portion of his remaining salary as compensation.

Milan were confident and planned to quickly open direct negotiations, so it was a transfer that seemed imminent before ultimately falling through due to yet another disagreement between Juventus and the Serbian player’s representatives.

What next?

Having remained in Turin, Dušan Vlahović made a strong start to the season, but then he suffered a serious injury sustained against Cagliari: a torn adductor muscle that forced him to take a long break. Naturally, with six months remaining on his deal, the chances of a January exit diminshed.

Vlahovic wants to return as quickly as possible and help Juventus in his final few months, but his fate already seems sealed. Meanwhile, his representatives have begun discreetly sounding out several clubs with a view to next summer.

Milan are still searching for an attacking reinforcement after the failed pursuit of Jean-Philippe Mateta, and they are continuing to closely monitor the Serbian’s situation. AS Roma are too, who may be looking to offload Artem Dovbyk. Inter have him on their shortlist as well.

With Serbia not participating in the 2026 World Cup, Vlahović will have the entire summer to finalize his return and calmly choose his next destination. At 26, he knows that this next big choice will be crucial.

Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are all in the mix, but it is England that continues to entice Vlahović, a league he is keen to play him. Tottenham and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on things, but either way one thing is certain: Vlahović’s future now lies far from Turin.
