Tuttosport: Vlahovic to Milan ‘not over yet’ – how the Juventus striker could still arrive

There is a chance that Victor Boniface might not actually be competing for a spot with Santiago Gimenez but with Dusan Vlahovic, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Boniface’s arrival doesn’t rule out the arrival of another striker. In recent days, the name of Conrad Harder has been linked, but it seems that he is heading for Stade Rennais.

Vlahovic after all?

Massimiliano Allegri, meanwhile, has only one player in mind: Vlahovic. The arrival of a top-class striker like Boniface may have put an end to this possibility, but the feeling is that things could continue until the end of this transfer window after more than three months of courtship.

So, contrary to what one might believe, it is ‘not over’ between Vlahovic and Milan. That being said, the fact that – given the complicated pursuit – the Rossoneri decided to focus on Boniface and not the Serbian speaks volumes.

The issue is simple: in these months of constant contact, Milan never found the key to deeming the deal financially viable, both in terms of Vlahovic’s salary demands (he gets €12m net per year at Juventus) and in terms of the Bianconeri’s demands for his transfer fee.

There’s a ‘but’ in this whole story, and it goes by the name of Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican isn’t Allegri’s quintessential striker, which is why – faced with an offer of at least €30m – he could leave. At that point, the money would be there to grant Allegri’s wish.

  1. It seems they´re a lot journalists that support Juve. First writing a lot of rubbish on Boniface, now pushing Gimenez out so we can still sign Vlahovic. Are they paid to help Juve balance their finances? Vlahovic staying at Juve would be a disaster for them. Vlahovic coming to Milan would be a disaster for us. It will divide the lockerroom and ruin our season.

    1. Agree 100%…
      Incapable journalists…

The just don’t want to see Gimenez shining with Milan shirt this season..

  2. Even if we sell Adli for 100M I wouldn’t be offering Vlahovic the highest salary in the squad – I’d like to see him play for us and respect his ability, but I don’t think he should be the highest earner in the squad – he doesn’t offer the mix of ability, guarantees, brand and team leadership that should require IMO.

If he doesn’t want to show humility enough to fit into our wage structure, then that’s fair enough, but I hope we don’t break it for him.

  3. I think let’s push it to January… he will come for pennies cause of 6 months left on his contrat.

in the meantime, we give Gimenez a fair time to show his worth and if Vlahovic will get 6M in the meantime from Juve, saying no to 3M will be easier than to current 6M

    1. I think the only way Boniface deal makes sense is if they plan on actually buying another striker and don’t want to tie up funds. I don’t know if Vlahovic is the right move, unless of course Max REALLY is asking for him.

  4. Get him

Milan problem is too many midfielder few strikers. Its all Ibrahim mistake to try 434

Thankfully Allegri is going for twin striker formation. Milan DNA is always twin strike force

  5. These so called journalists have been writing off Gimenez since his arrival and pushing Failhovic all summer to Milan. Fark Failhovic and fark all those so called journalists. Are they on Juve’s payroll or what? Can’t wait for the season to start and Gimenez getting 20+ goals this season (yeah, I know it’s wishfull thinking). Just to shut all those idiots up. And I hope Failhovic will stay far FAR away from Milan.

  6. Vlahovic only like parties,he not proffesional foodball player for long time.
If we bring him here that will be huge mistake.
Some things about him many dont know.

  7. Weren’t Juve asking officially for 30M fee. In reality, they would be lucky to offload his salary as things stand at the moment. I really see no reason why would we offload Gimenez to replace him with Vlahovic and I doubt that’s the case.

With current squad we are fine offensively, especially for Serie A only. But we need another CB and there is no noise in that direction.

  8. The thing in favor of Vlahovic is that he wouldn’t have to hold the ball with his back to goal under Max – he would have to run into space which is what he was so good at while at Fiorentina. He could work at Milan and Max knows him well …

    Make the numbers make sense.

The $$$$ is ALREADY THERE. We HAVE the money now and CAN purchase Vlahovic if we choose to and don’t need to sell. We are NET + in transfers/sales by a large margin.

Assuming Vlahovic takes a pay cut we should make this transfer happen for additional security
